Safety and Driver Performance Officer (Fleet Specialist)

About the role: (This role requires prior experience — applications without relevant experience will not be considered)

We're strengthening our driver monitoring process, safety performance, and accident-prevention systems. We're looking for someone with strong experience in fleet safety, driver evaluation, compliance, and accident prevention to take ownership of this function.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and rate each driver's safety and overall performance
• Conduct regular audits of every driver — driving behavior, compliance, documentation, violations, and incident history
• Review telematics, camera footage, and safety alerts (speeding, harsh braking, hours-of-service violations, and other safety data)
• Identify high-risk drivers and take immediate corrective action
• Provide coaching, warnings, retraining, or suspension when required
• Investigate accidents, near misses, complaints, and serious safety violations
• Ensure all drivers comply with company policies and applicable safety regulations
• Maintain accurate driver safety records and submit regular reports to management
• Authority to remove unsafe drivers from duty, and initiate/approve termination in coordination with HR and company policy

Key skills/requirements:

• Proven experience in fleet safety, driver evaluation, or accident prevention
• Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA compliance and hours-of-service regulations
• Experience with telematics systems, dash cam footage review, and safety monitoring tools
• Strong investigative and analytical skills — able to assess incidents objectively
• Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping and reporting skills
• Ability to coach and hold drivers accountable professionally, without bias
