Science Lab Assistant
Canadian School of Tashkent (CST) is seeking a responsible, organized, and detail-oriented Science Lab Assistant to support our Science Department and help create safe, well-prepared, and engaging laboratory learning experiences for students.
Position Details
- Location: CST Campus, Tashkent, Uzbekistan
- Department: Academics
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Working Hours: 08:00–17:00, Monday–Friday
- Reports to: Vice Principal / Principal of Nova Scotia Program
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare laboratory materials, equipment, and resources for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics lessons.
- Support teachers and students during laboratory activities and practical sessions.
- Ensure laboratories are clean, organized, and ready for lessons.
- Maintain and monitor laboratory safety standards and procedures.
- Ensure chemicals and other laboratory materials are properly labeled, stored, handled, and disposed of.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and monitor stock levels.
- Assist with ordering and procurement of laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Conduct routine checks of laboratory equipment and report any issues promptly.
- Support teachers in preparing practical activities and experiments.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with teachers, students, and school staff in Uzbek, Russian, and English.
- Follow all school policies, health and safety procedures, and safeguarding requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
- Academic or practical science/laboratory background is highly desirable.
- Previous experience working in a school laboratory, university laboratory, research environment, or similar setting is an advantage.
- Training or certification in laboratory safety, science, or occupational health and safety is preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to safety.
- Ability to follow established procedures and safety protocols carefully.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with teachers and other staff.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy academic environment.
- Fluency in Uzbek, Russian, and English.
