Director of Investments Department

We are seeking an accomplished investment professional to lead the Investments Department and drive the origination, assessment, and promotion of high-impact investment opportunities in Kazakhstan. This is a unique opportunity for a commercially minded leader with a strong background in private equity, investment banking, or M&A advisory to work at the intersection of investment attraction, strategic partnerships, government engagement, and economic development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the sourcing, assessment, prioritization, and development of strategic investment opportunities across priority sectors, with a focus on flagship infrastructure and manufacturing projects.
• Build and manage a high-quality investment pipeline aligned with government priorities and ensure projects are endorsed, investment-ready, and positioned for financing.
• Lead the packaging of investment projects, including project verification, financial analysis, investment cases, investor-ready teasers, presentations, and other marketing materials.
• Develop and implement targeted investor outreach strategies, engaging qualified local and international investors, sovereign wealth funds, investment companies, institutional investors, and strategic corporate partners.
• Establish and strengthen collaboration with government bodies, public sector stakeholders, and industry associations to support investment projects and strategic initiatives.
• Identify regulatory, administrative, and institutional bottlenecks affecting investment and develop practical policy and regulatory reform proposals to improve the investment environment.
• Monitor market developments and identify emerging investment trends and opportunities.
• Lead the preparation and delivery of investor pitches, roadshows, conferences, business missions, and other investment promotion activities, representing the organization in high-level engagements
• Lead and develop a high-performing team of investment professionals.
• Support transaction structuring, negotiations, and execution where required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is an advantage.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in private equity, investment banking, M&A advisory, corporate finance, or a related field.
• Experience in investor outreach, fundraising, transaction structuring, negotiations, and investment/project execution
• Proven experience working with international financial institutions (IFIs), sovereign wealth funds, investment companies, commercial banks, and/or institutional investors.
• Proven track record in investment analysis, deal execution, and stakeholder management.
• Leadership experience managing teams and complex projects.
• Strong financial modelling, valuation, analytical, and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with senior executives, investors, and government stakeholders.
• Fluency in English, Russian, and Kazakh.

Preferred

• CFA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification.
• Experience working with international investors and cross-border transactions.
