Director of educational products & assessment

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

The company is at a stage of transformation. We need a business-oriented leader who can build two independent functions: educational product management and assessment quality management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

PRODUCT

• General English and IELTS portfolio aligned to CEFR standards
• Metrics: COR (Completion Rate — the share of students who complete a level), product NPS, retention, score gain (the increase in a student's score during a learning cycle) by cohort
• PLM (Product Lifecycle Management): from hypothesis and MVP (Minimum Viable Product — a baseline course version launched to test a hypothesis before full rollout) to gate decision on scaling
• Technical requirements to IT as internal customer: LMS, integrations, dashboards
• Pool of content methodologists: task setting, quality standards, deliverable acceptance
• Go-to-market package jointly with Marketing and Sales

ASSESSMENT

• Build Assessment as an independent function, isolated from product development
• Eliminate conflicts of interest: cross-assessment, prohibition of self-assessment
• Psychometric validity: BARS and IELTS descriptor calibration
• Item banking (a system in which tasks are regularly updated and recombined to prevent memorisation): rotation, protection from leaks
• Examiner standardisation: calibration sessions, inter-rater reliability (the degree to which different examiners assess the same student consistently) as an operational KPI
• Administer Mock IELTS and GE final tests across the branch network
• Test security: anti-fraud, FaceID/CRM identity verification
• Speaking cross-examiner pool: recruitment, training, rotation, unit economics (cost per assessment)

ANALYTICS & P&L

• Score gain by product, branch, level and cycle
• Pilot gate criteria: score gain, NPS, retention — set before the pilot starts
• Assessment data as the basis for teacher appraisal
• Manage BI dashboards: LMS ↔ CRM ↔ Assessment integrations
• P&L responsibility (accountability for the revenue and costs of your function) for product development and the assessment system
• Unit economics: cost per learning level and per assessment session
• Coordinate with Marketing, IT and Sales through SLA interfaces

REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience: 6+ years as Academic Director / Head of Product / Head of Assessment in EdTech or language education
• Product: PLM from product hypothesis to network-wide scaling
• Assessment: Psychometrics, BARS, validity, examiner standardisation
• IELTS Examiner certification (Cambridge/BC/IDP) will be an advantage
• Data: COR, NPS, retention, score gain; BI dashboards; management reporting
• Finance: P&L, unit economics, ability to justify investments with numbers
• Tech: Moodle, Canvas, iSpring; CRM↔LMS↔Assessment integrations
• Languages: English — C1+, Uzbek, Russian.
