Position Summary
The Canadian School of Tashkent (CST) is seeking a passionate, creative, and dedicated French Language Teacher to join our academic team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, inclusive, and communicative French language lessons that help students develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, as well as their understanding and appreciation of French-speaking cultures. Instruction is conducted in English and French, as appropriate, and follows CST’s Canadian-aligned curriculum for Grades 3–12.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging French language lessons appropriate to students’ age, level, and learning needs.
- Develop students’ proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in French.
- Build students’ confidence and motivation to communicate in French in authentic and meaningful contexts.
- Teach French language structures, vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and cultural awareness.
- Incorporate a variety of interactive, communicative, and student-centered teaching strategies and resources.
- Encourage students to develop an appreciation for French-speaking cultures, literature, traditions, and global perspectives.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Assess student learning and progress and maintain accurate academic records.
- Provide constructive feedback and appropriate academic support to students.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
- Encourage active participation in classroom activities, projects, presentations, and school-wide events.
- Collaborate with teachers and other members of the academic team on interdisciplinary and school-wide initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of the school’s language and international education programs.
- Participate in professional development activities and other duties related to the role as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in French, French Education, Modern Languages, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in French language education.
- Strong knowledge of French language, grammar, literature, and Francophone cultures.
- Experience teaching students at the middle/secondary school level is an advantage.
- Experience working in an international or multicultural school environment is an advantage.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in French is required.
- Strong proficiency in English is required.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support students with varying levels of French proficiency.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and international school environment.
- Creativity, enthusiasm, flexibility, and a genuine passion for language education.
