The Senior Territory Sales Manager – Almaty & East is a critical sales leadership role responsible for driving sustainable business growth across the largest and most strategically important territory in Kazakhstan. The role leads a team of Mars Associates and distributor sales teams, ensures excellent execution of Mars growth plans, develops key customer relationships, and delivers sales, distribution, and market share objectives. The position requires strong leadership, commercial acumen, and the ability to influence multiple stakeholders across Mars, distributor organizations, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Mars Associates to deliver outstanding business results and build a strong talent pipeline.
- Drive achievement of sales, distribution, execution, and profitability targets across Almaty, Almaty Region, and East Kazakhstan.
- Build and execute territory business plans aligned with national and regional growth objectives.
- Develop strategic partnerships with distributor leadership and drive continuous improvement of distributor capabilities and performance.
- Ensure flawless execution of national customer agreements, promotional programs, and commercial initiatives.
- Lead negotiations with local retail chains and key regional customers.
- Set sales priorities, monitor performance, and implement corrective actions where required.
- Drive excellence in in-store execution, availability, visibility, and Perfect Store standards.
- Build effective training and capability development programs for distributor sales teams.
- Conduct regular field visits and establish a strong field coaching culture across the territory.
- Analyze business performance, identify growth opportunities, and recommend actions to accelerate results.
- Collaborate closely with Customer Development, SRM, Supply, Finance, and other cross-functional teams to deliver business objectives.
- Represent Mars during regional and global stakeholder visits, business reviews, and territory assessments.
- Ensure compliance with Mars policies, processes, and safety standards.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of distributor operations, route-to-market, and logistics, with proven ability to drive results through business partners.
- Proven leadership experience in customer development, including leading teams and influencing stakeholders to deliver business objectives.
- Strong track record of delivering sales results through effective planning, KPI management, and continuous improvement.
- Excellent negotiation, influencing, and relationship-building skills with customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to identify opportunities, overcome challenges, make decisions, and drive execution in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong commercial acumen and category management knowledge.
- Minimum 3 years of FMCG sales experience; experience managing people is preferred.
- Strong analytical and presentation skills.
- English language proficiency: Upper-Intermediate or higher.
