1. Translation Workflow Management
Receive and process translation requests from clients or internal departments.
Assess the volume and complexity of source texts.
Determine deadlines and coordinate them with both clients and translators.
Assign texts to appropriate translators based on language pair and subject matter.
2. Translator Coordination
Select suitable translators according to topic, language, and experience.
Monitor deadlines and ensure timely delivery of translations.
Provide translators with reference materials, glossaries, and specific instructions.
Maintain an up-to-date database of in-house and freelance translators (CVs, rates, specialties, feedback).
3. Quality Control
Check translations for completeness and accuracy.
Organize editing and proofreading by qualified linguists.
Use CAT tools (e.g., Trados, MemoQ) to ensure terminology consistency and translation memory usage.
4. Client Communication
Advise clients on deadlines, pricing, and translation specifics.
Clarify client requirements regarding style, formatting, and terminology.
Deliver final documents and collect client feedback for quality improvement.
5. Administrative Duties
Manage contracts, invoices, and other documentation.
Generate reports on translation volumes and productivity.
Contribute to budgeting for translation services.
Monitor translator workload and help optimize processes.
🔧 Desired Skills and Tools:
Proficiency with CAT tools (Trados, MemoQ, Smartcat, etc.).
Strong knowledge of text editing software (MS Word, Excel, PDF tools).
Project and time management skills.
Excellent communication and attention to detail.
Foreign language proficiency is a plus, but not always required.
