BDO Uzbekistan is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in Tashkent. The successful candidate will have strong practical knowledge of national accounting and tax legislation, excellent technical skills, and experience managing a small team.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain accurate accounting records in compliance with the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
- Manage and review day-to-day accounting operations.
- Prepare and verify primary accounting documents, reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Ensure the accurate and timely calculation of taxes and preparation of statutory tax reports.
- Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking transactions, and settlements with counterparties.
- Work with Client-Bank systems and electronic invoicing platforms, including Didox.
- Maintain documentation relating to foreign currency contracts, lease agreements, employment contracts, and other business transactions.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Coordinate with auditors, tax authorities, banks, and other external parties when required.
- Supervise, support, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
- Monitor changes in accounting and tax legislation and ensure their correct practical application.
Candidate requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Taxation, Banking, or a related field.
- At least five years of proven experience in national accounting.
- Experience across several industries, preferably including services, trading, and manufacturing.
- Experience working with public-sector entities, NGOs, or non-profit organisations would be an advantage.
- Proven experience managing a team of at least three employees.
- Strong practical knowledge of 1C Accounting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Hands-on experience with electronic document-management systems.
- Sound knowledge of Uzbekistan’s tax legislation applicable to both individuals and legal entities.
- Proficiency in Russian and English.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy, responsibility, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
