About Pharmaceutical Technical University (PTU)
Pharmaceutical Technical University (PTU) was established in 2022 in accordance with a Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and a Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers. The University is located within the Innovative Research and Industrial Cluster — Tashkent Pharma Park.
PTU operates in strategic collaboration with leading international higher education institutions, including the University of Sunderland and De Montfort University (United Kingdom), as well as Yonsei University (Republic of Korea). These partnerships support the development and delivery of internationally benchmarked academic programmes in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Business Management and Data analytics.
The official language of instruction and institutional communication is English. All academic programmes are validated and delivered in alignment with international partner standards, and internal and external correspondence with international stakeholders is conducted in English.
Main duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the University's Teaching and Learning Strategy to enhance its educational impact across the Faculty. Maintain a profile in teaching and research, and represent and promote the Teaching and Learning both internally within the University and externally through collaborations, partnerships, conferences, and professional bodies, in the UK and around the globe.
- Bring Academic Leadership across the Faculty to life, so that the courses and subjects are vibrant and give students an exciting experience and staff are enabled to develop and thrive professionally in their subject Areas
- Empower Undergraduate students to reach their highest potential by providing them with a stimulating, engaging and challenging learning experience. With the right attributes, they will have the best possible chance at securing employment and/or further study after graduation.
- To work collaboratively with other senior managers in the Faculty to manage the day-to-day activities, and ensure an inclusive and collective engagement in the process
- Develop and deliver the University's Teaching and Learning Strategy to enhance its educational impact across the Faculty. Maintain a profile in teaching and research, and represent and promote Teaching and Learning both internally within the University and externally through collaborations, partnerships, conferences, and professional bodies, in the UK and around the globe.
- Cooperate with the Dean of Research and Postgraduate Programmes to ensure that research activities and achievements are managed in line with the Staff Management roles
- Ensure absolute integrity and consistency of admissions decisions and assessment judgements, manage the processes for the quality assurance of all undergraduate courses and modules in the Faculty
- Create an engaging curriculum in the Undergraduate programmes of the Faculty to meet the needs of modern Uzbek society and international requirements
- Develop and implement effective staff management plans and practices iof the faculty, to guarantee the consistent delivery of feedback, assistance and staff enhancement.
- Monitor performance against clear criteria and university policies, and to make sure a yearly appraisal system is in place for all staff in the Faculty
- Ensure high-quality academic programmes and standards in teaching, research, and consultancy work, while maintaining effective relationships with current and prospective students, the Faculty is committed to upholding University and professional body requirements.
- Advance and implement the Research Development Strategy of the University, thereby elevating the development of Research over the University and promoting the growth of Research within the University and externally via collaborations, agreements, conventions, and academic institutions, in the UK and worldwide
- Develop and direct the University's Research and Consultancy framework, stimulating faculty engagement and creating a research environment and profile of activities and outcomes that will put the University at the forefront of research universities in Central Asia
- Developing the necessary infrastructure and capabilities for the university to capture external research and consultancy income is essential
- Guarantee compliance with established university and, where relevant, professional body requirements for all academic courses created and provided by members of the faculty, the maintenance of professional standards in teaching, research and consultancy work, and the maintenance of successful relationships with existing and prospective students.
Qualification
- A doctoral degree and a proven scholarly and professional standing
- Relevant research records or professional practice in a field within the subject matter of the University
Experience
- An exceptional background in teaching, research, and/or professional practice in the applicant's main discipline, as well as evidence of the capacity to effectively motivate staff
- Excellent analytical and administrative skills, along with considerable experience in research
- An understanding of business planning, resource management, and the challenges of higher education
- International experience in the area of Higher Education
- Knowledge of the cultural and environmental issues surrounding the delivery of international education
