Wood (trading locally as WOOD KSS LLP) is currently recruiting for Senior Civil/Structural Engineer with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.
Responsibilities:
Drainage Design
- Develop surface and subsurface drainage systems, including:
- Stormwater collection networks
- Open channels, culverts, and manholes
- Oil-contaminated water drainage and clean stormwater drainage (CSD)
- Prepare drainage layout plans, profiles, details, and hydraulic reports
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., AASHTO, SP RK EN, client specifications)
Roads and Pavement Engineering
- Design plant roads, routes, laydown areas, heavy duty pavements, and pedestrian walkways
- Perform geometric design: alignment, profiles, cross sections, turning radii
- Carry out pavement thickness design using geotechnical data and project requirements
- Develop traffic management layouts and temporary construction access plans
- Coordinate MTOs, specifications, and construction-ready details
Plot Plan and Site Layout Development
- Development of overall site plot plans and area layouts ensuring optimal use of space, safety, and operability
- Integrate CSA requirements with:
- Piping and Mechanical layouts
- Electrical & Instrumentation route planning
- Buildings and modular packages
- Support model reviews (30%, 60%, 90%) and recommend layout improvements
Multidiscipline Coordination
- Review and confirm tie ins, existing elevations, interface points, and route corridors
- Provide input to plot plan rationalization, minimizing rework and site interference
Technical Documentation and Quality
- Prepare design basis documents, calculation packages, technical specifications, and narrative reports
- Develop IFC quality drawings, BOQs, and design deliverables
- Review vendor documents, subcontractor designs, and construction queries
- Ensure designs meet project HSE, Safety in Design, and environmental requirements
• Check calculations and designs by more junior engineers and provide feedback to encourage them to improve their engineering skills
• Provide input to Basis of Design, Design Reports and FEED studies. Prepare Job Packs and Material Requisitions
• Signing of drawings & key documents
• Produce CTR’s as required
• Perform site surveys and site inspections as required
• Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers and is consulted extensively by associates and others
• Provides mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving engineering problems efficiently and economically
• May be requested for inputs into technical bids
Skills / Qualifications:
- Engineering degree in related field
- Experience in their discipline for no less than 5 Years
- Proficient user of relevant software and calculation templates
- Professional level of knowledge of applicable codes and standards
