We are looking for a hands-on Finance Manager to build and lead the finance function from scratch in a growing retail business. This role combines both strategic finance responsibilities and operational involvement, including accounting oversight and day-to-day financial processes.

Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting (core focus):
- Oversee and actively participate in accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Ensure timely month-end closing and correctness of financial data
- Supervise tax compliance (VAT, CIT) and local statutory requirements
Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Build financial models for a newly established company
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Provide insights and recommendations to support business decisions
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Prepare and review financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Coordinate with external auditors and support audit processes
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and Kazakhstan regulations
Retail Finance Operations:
- Oversee POS reconciliation and sales reporting
- Monitor store performance, margins, and cost efficiency
- Analyze promotions, discounts, and pricing strategies
Cash Flow & Banking:
- Manage cash flow and liquidity
- Work with banks and financial institutions (payments, financing, credit lines)
Internal Controls & Risk Management:
- Establish and maintain internal controls
- Identify financial risks and implement mitigation measures
Stakeholder Management:
- Partner with senior management and HQ on financial strategy
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Build and develop the finance function over time
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 5–8+ years of relevant experience in finance and accounting
- Strong hands-on accounting experience is a must
- Experience in retail, distribution, or FMCG is highly preferred
- Solid knowledge of IFRS and Kazakhstan tax regulations
- Experience in budgeting, financial modeling, and reporting
- Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (1C, Xero, Retail Pro, etc.)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently in a startup environment
- English proficiency is required; Chinese is a plus
