Junior Data Engineer (Octane)

About the Project:
Fuel card sales in the U.S. (all sales are conducted within the United States).
Project launch: March 2024.
Part of a logistics group: The project is a division of a U.S. trucking logistics group, which is the market leader in Uzbekistan.
The company is a registered IT Park resident with offices in Tashkent (two offices), Chicago, and Orlando.

Purpose of the Role:

We are looking for a motivated Junior Data Engineer to join our data team and support the development of scalable data solutions. In this role, you will work closely with engineers and analysts to build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines, ensuring data accuracy, availability, and reliability across the company.

Key Responsibilities:

— Write, optimize, and maintain SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and reporting
— Work with PostgreSQL and MySQL databases: create tables, manage schemas, and ensure data consistency
— Support and monitor data pipelines using Airflow
— Develop Python scripts for data processing and automation
— Use pandas to clean, transform, and analyze datasets
— Assist in building ETL/ELT pipelines from various data sources
— Perform data validation, quality checks, and troubleshooting
— Help maintain documentation for data pipelines and processes
— Collaborate with Data Analysts, Product, and Engineering teams to understand data requirements
— Participate in improving existing workflows and proposing optimizations

Requirements:

— Basic to intermediate proficiency in SQL
— Basic to intermediate Python skills (including pandas)
— Experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL and/or MySQL)
— Basic understanding of data pipelines and ETL/ELT concepts
— Familiarity with Airflow or other workflow orchestration tools
— Understanding of data modeling fundamentals
— Ability to write clean, maintainable code
— Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset
— Willingness to learn and grow in data engineering
