We are seeking an operational and highly focused Junior Industrial Designer / Prototype Coordinator to manage the execution and validation of cutting-edge electronic product prototypes. This pivotal role involves acting as the central communication link between our internal teams (Brand, Engineering) and our external design and manufacturing partners to ensure the final prototype is refined, brand-compliant, and fully prepared for industrial scaling.
Prototype Management & Monitoring
Monitoring Prototype Creation: Establish and maintain systems for monitoring the creation of the prototype by external vendors, ensuring timelines are met and quality standards are maintained at every stage.
Final Prototype Readiness: Ensure the final working prototype is fully validated and ready for mass production tooling and scaling. The result of this work is a prototype of the product that is ready for scaling.
Quality Acceptance Trip: Be prepared to arrange and execute a trip to China (or other manufacturing locations) for final prototype inspection, work acceptance, and sign-off alongside engineering leadership.
Communication & Stakeholder Coordination
Design Company Liaison: Maintain continuous, clear communication with the external design company to clarify design intent, resolve technical issues, and ensure adherence to all design specifications.
Internal Brand Coordination: Work closely with the internal brand team to ensure the prototype’s aesthetic, material choices, and user experience align perfectly with brand guidelines and market strategy.
Design Review & Improvement
Feedback Collection & Delivery: Systematically collect and collate all comments and design feedback from internal stakeholders (Engineering, Brand, Executive Team).
Formalized Communication: Organize and send comprehensive, clear feedback to the design company, managing revisions and tracking all iteration cycles.
Providing Recommendations: Actively analyze the prototype against user needs and manufacturability constraints, providing recommendations for improving the product before the scaling phase begins.
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or a related field (e.g., Product Design).
0-2 years of professional experience in industrial design or product development coordination (internship experience is highly valued).
Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects involving external vendors and strict deadlines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in documenting and presenting technical and aesthetic feedback.
Familiarity with the product development lifecycle and manufacturing processes (injection molding, assembly).
Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required for prototype sign-off.
Proficiency in reviewing 3D CAD models (SolidWorks, Rhino, etc.).
Experience working with overseas manufacturing and design teams.
