WordPress Developer

Andersen is hiring a WordPress Developer for a project developing and enhancing digital solutions across multiple industries, improving business processes, and supporting innovation.

The customer is an international company operating in the business services and media sectors. Its activities include organizing professional events, facilitating industry networking, and supporting business development initiatives. The company serves corporate clients across multiple markets and maintains an international presence.

The project is focused on developing and enhancing digital solutions across a diverse portfolio of businesses in gaming, emerging technologies, digital health, media, events, and affiliate marketing. It supports multiple initiatives aimed at improving digital capabilities, optimizing business processes, and driving innovation across international markets.

Responsibilities:

• Building and maintaining custom themes, plugins, and Gutenberg blocks across a portfolio of high-traffic, multilingual WordPress sites.
• Developing and maintaining libraries, block collections, Composer packages and tooling that speed up delivery across teams.
• Owning quality and performance: refactor legacy code, optimize queries and caching, and hit Core Web Vitals targets.
• Building and consuming REST APIs and integrations with internal and third-party systems.
• Taking part in code reviews, CI/CD improvements, and engineering standards.
• Working with product, marketing, SEO, and content teams on new features and site improvements.
• Ensuring software development best practices and timeliness of product delivery.

Must-haves:

• Proven work experience as a WordPress Developer in Object Oriented PHP (8.x, namespaces, PSR-4, Composer) for 3,5+ years.
• Deep knowledge of the WP core APIs: hooks, custom post types and taxonomies, meta and custom fields (ACF Pro and native), and WP_Query.
• Solid production experience building Gutenberg blocks with React, JSX, block.json, and @wordpress/scripts.
• Strong modern JavaScript (ES6+), build tooling (webpack/Vite) and modern CSS (Sass or PostCSS; Tailwind is a plus).
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs, including custom WP REST endpoints.
• Solid grasp of WordPress security (escaping, sanitization, nonces, capabilities) and performance (object caching, query optimization).
• Comfortable with Git-based workflows, pull requests, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Comfortable working in an AI-assisted workflow (e.g. Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor), with the judgment to review, verify, and take ownership of generated code.
• Level of English – from Intermediate+ and above.

Nice to haves:

• Experience with WordPress block themes, Full Site Editing (FSE), theme.json, and the Interactivity API.
• Familiarity with Bedrock or similar Composer-based WordPress architectures.
• Experience with automated testing and static analysis using PHPUnit, Playwright, PHPStan, and PHPCS/WPCS.
• Experience with Timber/Twig, Blade, or similar templating engines.
• Experience with WordPress Multisite and multilingual solutions (WPML, Polylang, or similar).
• Experience with headless WordPress, including WPGraphQL and Next.js.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards and technical SEO.
