KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Management of claims, disputes, and litigation matters, including pre-trial dispute resolution and representation of the Company’s interests in courts and arbitration proceedings.
- Interaction with government authorities and regulatory bodies, including the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan (PS KNB RK), the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KNB RK), and the antimonopoly authority; acting jointly with the Government Relations function as a single point of contact and providing legal support during inspections and audits.
- Legal support for cargo, logistics, and customs matters, including the resolution of issues related to cargo holds/blockages and customs duties and payments.
- Legal support on employment and labor matters, including labor disputes and day-to-day HR-related legal issues.
- Management of regulatory compliance and maintenance of the permits/licenses register, ensuring compliance with all required permits, licenses, and regulatory obligations.
- Management of operational and protective legal risks related to airport operations and infrastructure.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law (LL.B., LL.M., or equivalent legal qualification).
- At least 5 years of legal experience, including litigation, claims management, dispute resolution, and regulatory law.
- Experience in organizing and coordinating the work of a legal team and collaborating with relevant business functions and stakeholders.
- Practical experience in dealing with government authorities, including the Antimonopoly Committee, the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan (PS KNB RK), the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KNB RK), prosecution authorities, and tax authorities.
- Proven experience in handling judicial and pre-trial disputes, including representing companies before courts and government authorities, particularly in employment disputes, appeals against actions of government authorities, and debt recovery matters.
- Experience working in international and infrastructure-focused companies; additional experience in foreign jurisdictions would be considered an advantage.
