Haileybury Astana is seeking a Lab Technician to provide technical and administrative support within the science department. The role involves preparing and maintaining laboratory equipment, assisting with practical lessons, ensuring health and safety standards are met, and supporting teaching staff during experiments.

Responsibilities:

• Offering day-to-day support to Science teachers in the Science department.
• Assist in the preparation of chemicals and other resources needed in order for effective teaching to take place within the science department.
• Assisting in practical classes & carrying out demonstrations, where applicable.
• Maintain the chemical storage area in line with local and international requirements to comply with legal licensing requirements.
• Ensure that laboratory equipment is in good, safe working order and repair where necessary.
• Ensure that laboratories and the science preparation room are kept clean, tidy and safe at all times.
• Assist with the ordering of resources, under the direction of the Head of Department
• Organising, storing and checking the condition of chemicals and equipment.
• Liaise with members of the science department daily to maintain effective and efficient operations.
• Assist with any CCA under the direction of the Head of Department, especially Science based activities.

• Report all causes for concern to the Designated Safeguarding Leader. (DSL);

Requirements :

• At least 3 years of experience in a similar lab technician role, preferably in an educational or scientific setting.

• A specialism in a relevant subject area (e.g. Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or a related technical discipline).

• Knowledge of safe laboratory practices and experience with maintaining and repairing lab equipment.

• Experience working in a school or educational environment is an advantage.

• Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
