Skills and Qualifications
2.1. Education and Experience:
Graduate qualified teacher with Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject area.
Experience in training pupils and creating materials for Mathematics Olympiads
Master’s degree will be an advantage.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in teaching the subject
Successful experience in working with pupils in the group you are teaching
Demonstrated experience in inspiring pupils in a stimulating learning environment.
Demonstrated experience of using ICT to promote learning
Ability to analyse student data to support student achievement
Demonstrated experience in raising achievement and setting challenging targets
Strong commitment to supporting all aspects of our Mathematics and Olympiad programmes.

3. Goals and Objectives
Actively promote and develop the ethos of the school.
Lead by example in all professional matters ensuring that all pupils observe matters such as dress, punctuality and attendance.
Actively establish good relations with parents and visitors to the school.
Support and attend all major school events.
Maintain a teaching load appropriate to the position.

Participate fully in House activities
Participate in Visits and Expeditions as required.
Develop Mathematics Olympiad classes to stretch and extend the more able Senior school pupils in all areas of their Mathematics.
Help assess and select pupils for inclusion within the Senior School Mathematics extension programme with the Senior School Head of Mathematics and SS SLT.
Liaise carefully with Senior School SLT and the SS Head of Mathematics to plan and schedule all Olympiad Mathematics lessons and CCAs to involve the most suitable pupils and avoid any clashes with other timetabled activities.
Promote and encourage maximum involvement of pupils in the Senior School to help them to discover and enjoy their Mathematical abilities.
Assist in the transition of pupils at all year groups so that high level Mathematics skills are promoted and progressed well.
Ensure there is careful liaison with the Junior School Mathematics Department and Olympiad teachers of Mathematics to ensure there is a good fit with the programmes in the Junior School and a smooth route forward for these pupils.
Ensure that pupils and parents of high mathematical ability at Haileybury Almaty Senior School have good awareness and involvement in Mathematical events in Almaty and within Olympiad and extension programmes.
Administer and run the UK Mathematical extension programmes such as the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust programmes including the Primary Mathematics Challenge, the First Mathematics Challenge and the Senior Mathematics Challenge.
Prepare Senior School pupils strongly and well for their best results in these Olympiads and Mathematics Challenges.
Take an active role in organising, along with the Head of Senior School Mathematics and the Head of Junior School Mathematics events hosted by Haileybury Almaty to promote Mathematics.
Liaise with and communicate all activities to parents and through social media including close liaison with the Communications Department team to promote Mathematics extension at Haileybury Almaty
2. Curriculum Matters
Possess a deep knowledge and understanding of Mathematics to develop and extend Senior School pupils with Olympiad Mathematics materials.
Keep up to date with curriculum developments through reading and CPD opportunities.
Plan, prepare and deliver lessons for any higher level Mathematics classes that are identified for teaching input.
Manage curriculum delivery and associated resources in a manner that challenges and interests pupils and is appropriate to their needs and skill-levels.
Take responsibility for curriculum delivery and associated resources in a manner consistent with school and departmental policies and procedures.
Prepare pupils for and administer summative assessment programmes including both school-based and externally examined assessments.
Maintain consistency with internal and relevant external marking schedules and moderation procedures.
Maintain legible, verifiable, accurate, comprehensive, defendable and fair records of formative and summative assessment results.
Write reports on student performance for internal and external use as required
4. Job Responsibilities
Working with the Head of Faculty and fellow Olympiad specialists in maintaining high academic standards within their subject area.
To develop Olympiad skills with pupils in Mathematics.
To ensure that pupils are supported in their learning journey through Senior School and set the highest aspirations for their pupils’ achievement and development, both in the classroom and through extra-curricular Mathematics activities.
To support students in their training and entry into local, National and International Olympiad Competitions.
Help with the creation of questions and competitions for the Mathematics Faculty.
7. Child protection, Safeguarding and Health & Safety
∙ Everyone who works at Haileybury Almaty has the responsibility for promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children.
∙ Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact;
∙ Maintain good order and discipline among the pupils and safeguard their health and safety, both when they are on the school premises and when they are engaged in authorised school activities elsewhere;
∙ Be aware of school policy and procedures regarding Child Protection and Safeguarding, and attend relevant training as required;
∙ Report all causes for concern to the Designated Senior Lead;
∙ Provide thorough risk assessments as required prior to activities and trips.
