Database Administrator

Andersen is hiring a Database Administrator for a project ensuring high availability, performance, and resilience of database systems through clustering, backups, and disaster recovery strategies.

The customer is a key financial infrastructure organization operating in the capital markets domain. It provides a regulated platform for trading financial instruments and connects market participants while ensuring transparency and efficiency. The organization focuses on modernizing its systems through advanced trading platforms, API integrations, and end-to-end digital processes, aligning with global standards and best practices.

The project is focused on ensuring high availability and resilience of database systems. It includes implementing clustering and failover mechanisms, defining disaster recovery strategies (RTO/RPO), optimizing performance, and managing backup and recovery processes to maintain stable production operations.

Responsibilities:

• Administering and maintaining PostgreSQL as the primary database and Microsoft SQL Server for analytics across production environments.
• Designing, configuring, and maintaining High Availability (HA) solutions and failover mechanisms to ensure uninterrupted database operations.
• Implementing and managing backup and recovery strategies, including Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR), to meet defined RTO and RPO objectives.
• Developing, documenting, and regularly testing Disaster Recovery (DR) plans to guarantee business continuity in the event of system failures.
• Optimizing database performance by tuning complex SQL queries, analyzing execution plans, and designing efficient index structures.
• Configuring and fine-tuning database system parameters, including connection, statement, and lock timeouts, as well as memory and connection settings.
• Leading database migration and deployment efforts, including building database instances from scratch and ensuring stability in production environments.

Must-haves:

• Experience as a Database Administrator for 3+ years.
• Experience in PostgreSQL administration (primary database) and Microsoft SQL Server (analytics workloads).
• Hands-on experience with backup and recovery, including Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR).
• Experience in configuring High Availability (HA) and failover mechanisms.
• Practical experience in designing and supporting Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies, including RTO/RPO.
• Strong skills in performance tuning, including SQL query optimization, execution plan analysis, and index tuning.
• Experience in configuring and optimizing database parameters (connection, statement, lock timeouts; memory and connection settings).
• Experience in database migration and deployment.
• Ability to set up databases from scratch and maintain stable production environments.
• Good understanding of database reliability, scalability, and operational best practices.
• Level of English – from Intermediate and above.
