Operations Specialist (Commodity Trading)

We are looking for an Operations Specialist in an actively developing international company engaged in commodity trading, who will take on the responsibility for the full support of trade transactions and logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the full execution cycle of trading operations, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of goods from suppliers to customers.

• Trade Execution Shipment Coordination: Managing the full lifecycle of a trade, from contract confirmation to final delivery.
• Communication: Acting as the primary point of contact for suppliers, buyers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, port agents, and survey companies.
• Documentary Compliance: Preparing and verifying the full set of shipping and commercial documents (Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin, Packing Lists, Commercial Invoices, Quality/Quantity Certificates, Phytosanitary certificates, etc.).
• Contract Administration: Ensuring compliance with sales and purchase terms, monitoring deadlines, and maintaining accurate data in ERP/CTRM systems (such as Odoo, SAP, or similar).
• Logistics Management: Organizing inland transportation, warehousing operations, and port transshipment.
• Risk Management Quality Control: Monitoring compliance with international trade regulations and safety standards (HSE) regarding cargo handling (particularly for chemicals/fertilizers).
• Demurrage Management: Calculating laytime, mitigating vessel detention risks, and managing claims.
• Reporting: Maintaining shipment trackers, calculating deal costs (PL/COGS), and preparing operational reports for traders and senior management.

Qualifications Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 2–5 years of experience in the operations department of a commodity trading company (fertilizers, chemicals, grains, metals, etc.).
• Expertise: Deep understanding of international logistics processes and Incoterms.
• Languages: Fluency in both Russian and English (written and spoken) is essential.
• Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word). Experience with ERP/CTRM systems is mandatory.
• Assets: Prior experience handling hazardous materials or chemical logistics will be considered a significant advantage.
