SCADA Design Engineer

Juru is looking for a SCADA Design Engineer for our Engineering Design & Management Business Unit to be based in our Tashkent office. We are seeking a passionate, proactive and results-driven professional to join our team. In this role, you will serve as an engineer on substation design projects for high-voltage utility systems and renewable energy interconnections, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). You will be responsible for delivering precise and comprehensive designs that align with relevant industry standards.

Key responsibilities:

• provide engineering and design services to produce design and construction documents for projects;
• design and configure network and communication paths for RTUs, IEDs, HMIs, PLC’s and other SCADA system equipment inside the substation or facility as well as paths to the data off-takers;
• specify and design communication networks including data security and availability;
• prepare P&IDs, process control narratives, instrument lists and I/O (input/output) lists;
• develop written specifications & datasheets and BoQ for implementing I&C and SCADA system equipment (servers, workstations, industrial network devices, etc.) of HV substations, wind and solar plants, and battery storage system;
• review the vendors and OEM schematics drawings and provide technical support in procurement stage;
• analyse/elucidate TORs and Employer’s Requirements and elaborate scope of works for SCADA and communication disciplines, and division of responsibilities among multiple parties;
• prepare manning, cost/time estimates when requested;
• sizing and calculation of network traffics;
• coordinate with various disciplines, review work done by other team members;
• act as a mentor, lead and guide junior engineers and interns in performing delegated tasks;
• liaise with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders;
• field visits within projects, when required.

Key requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering or electrical and computer engineering;
• Minimum 3 years of I&C, automation, and SCADA system design and implementation experience in energy market;
• Good command of English and Russian, both written and verbal;
• Knowledge of commonly deployed network devices and protocols in substations environments (Server, time synchronization server, L1, L2, L3 switches, gateway, terminal server, media convertor, firewall and RTU);
• Knowledge of the IEC 61850 standard (GOOSE, MMS, SV) and their implementation;
• Knowledge of commonly used industrial network protocols in power systems (IEC60870-101/103/104, Modbus RTU/TCP, PRP/HSR redundancy etc);
• Knowledge of time synchronization protocols (NTP/SNTP, IRIG-B, PTP etc);
• Solid knowledge of IT, network engineering, power grid cybersecurity and understanding of AMI (Automated Metering Infrastructure), power grid protection system;
• Familiarity with Smart Grid technologies and their applications is a big plus.
