Senior legal / Старший юрист (шиппинг; морское международное право)

International Commodity Trading Group is looking for a Senior legal to join their Legal team.

Candidate shall be responsible for:

• Participating in providing legal assistance to the commodity trading team and to the marine shipping team on different on-going matters (sale and purchase agreements, governed by the English law, time-, voyage-, bareboat – charter party agreements, shipman and repair contracts, support of chartering and shipping and trading ops, etc);
• Legal support of registration of vessels (preparing the documentation as per the vessel’s flag requirements, coordination of the process, negotiations with the flag/registration agents);
• Performing due diligence and vessel’s and counterparties’ KYC compliance procedures;
• Sanction compliance in respect of the certain deals;
• Participating in corporate support (preparing different sorts of corporate documentation, liaising with the corporate secretaries, banks, other official bodies and entities on all on going corporate issues, assistance in other related corporate matters);
• Concluding and negotiating insurance contracts (for operated vessels, carried goods);
• Drafting, reviewing transactions in accordance with the particulars of the business activities performed by the group (under the Russian and English law);
• Liaising with the treasury team on all ongoing matters, where legal team’ assistance is required;
• Legal assistance in claims negotiations on different shipping and trading matters (demurrage, deviation, off-hire disputes, support of insurance claims, quantity and quality of goods claims under the trading contracts, etc.);
• Participating in the legal support for other business matters of the group as per the Head of legal instructions.

Qualifications/Personal Attributes:

• Bachelor’s or master degree, preferably in international, maritime, commercial law;
• Good knowledge and understanding of charter party contracts and of sale of goods contracts regulation under the English law;
• Good knowledge of sanctions, enacted to influence commodity trading and carriage of goods by sea;
• The candidate must have qualification and at least 5 years of professional experience in Russian civil law, in international commodities sales, marine shipping issues regulation under the English law, of corporate law principles under different jurisdictions;
• Excellent analytical capabilities;
• Solid prior-experience in handling claims (pre-trial settlement/courts/arbitration) in marine and commodity trading issues;
• Must have an ability to handle multiple tasks;
• Must have strong desire to learn new subjects and disciplines;
• High level of proficiency in English (both written and oral);
• Good computer skills.
