Student Support Assistant (SEN) – Middle School

Position Overview:

We are seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated Student Support Assistant to work closely with a middle school student who requires additional support as they transition into an English-medium international school environment. This is a vital role supporting the student’s academic, social, and emotional development, and ensuring they are successfully integrated into the school community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one support to the student during lessons, breaks, and transitions as required
• Assist the student in understanding and completing classroom tasks and assignments
• Support the development of English language skills in collaboration with classroom teachers and EAL specialists
• Help the student build confidence, independence, and positive relationships with peers
• Implement strategies recommended by the school’s Student Support Team or SEN Coordinator
• Monitor and report on the student’s progress and challenges to teachers and parents
• Promote an inclusive, respectful, and safe learning environment

Requirements:

• Experience working with children or young adolescents, preferably in an international or English-medium school setting
• Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills
• Good English communication skills (spoken and written)
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and support staff
• Willingness to learn and apply strategies for supporting students with diverse learning needs

Desirable:

• Background in education, psychology, social work, or a related field
• Experience supporting students with special educational needs or English as an Additional Language (EAL)
• Knowledge of inclusive education practices

Contract:

• Full-time, during school hours (term time)
