Head of Data Science and Business Analytics

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Head of Data Science and Business Analytics to lead our bank’s data-driven strategy across products, customers, channels, and operational processes. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving actionable insights through advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and reporting, leveraging tools like Power BI and Python. The successful candidate will lead a high-performing team, ensuring the delivery of strategic value through data.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead to implement the data science and business analytics strategy aligned with overall business goals.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of data scientists, analysts, and reporting specialists.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders across departments (Product, Marketing, Risk, Operations, IT) to define analytics needs and translate them into data solutions.
• Data Science & Modeling
  • Build and oversee the development of predictive models, segmentation, recommendation engines, and other advanced analytics applications.
  • Ensure best practices in model development, validation, and governance.
  • Promote experimentation and the use of machine learning techniques where appropriate.
• Business Analytics & Reporting
  • Ensure end-to-end reporting frameworks covering KPIs across products, customer segments, distribution channels, and operational processes.
  • Drive the adoption of self-service analytics and dashboards using tools like Power BI.
  • Identify and monitor key business metrics and proactively highlight risks and opportunities.
• Data Infrastructure & Tooling
  • Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to ensure robust data pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of analytical environments and tools to support scalable analysis.
• Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, banking regulations, and internal governance policies.
  • Advocate for data quality, integrity, and standardization across the bank.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field. PhD is a plus.
• 10+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or business intelligence, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role, preferably in banking or financial services.
• Proficiency with SQL and Power BI for reporting, data visualization and dashboard development.
• Strong experience in Python and Machine learning for data analysis and modeling (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, tensorflow, statsmodels).
• Proven track record of designing and deploying statistical models and machine learning algorithms in a business setting.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) is highly desirable.
• Strong business acumen and ability to communicate complex analytical results to non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with banking products, customer behavior analysis, and channel performance metrics is a strong advantage.
