Backend Developer (Node.js)

Andersen is hiring a Backend Developer (Node.js) for a project with Germany’s top online retailer. The role involves rebuilding the existing website using Node.js to enhance performance, scalability, and user experience.

The customer is a leading German eCommerce company focused on high-quality bathroom and lighting products. Operating across Europe, it offers a wide selection from over 250 premium brands, combining expert advice with user-friendly digital shopping. With strong logistics and reliable customer service, the company has grown from a traditional business into a market leader. The project is focused on rewriting an existing website using modern technologies, specifically Node.js and React. The goal is to improve performance, maintainability, and user experience by rebuilding the current platform on a more scalable and efficient tech stack.

Responsibilities:

• Rebuilding the backend system from scratch using a modern tech stack.
• Designing scalable architecture and implementing new features.
• Migrating data and ensuring a smooth transition from the legacy system.
• Developing and documenting robust APIs.
• Ensuring high code quality through testing and code reviews.
• Optimizing performance, security, and reliability.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams and maintaining clear documentation.
  
  Must-haves:
• Commercial experience with Node.js for 6+ years.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript.
• Experience with Elasticsearch or Solr.
• Solid experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (MariaDB/MySQL, MongoDB).
• Hands-on experience with Express.js or FeathersJS.
• Experience building and documenting REST APIs.
• Experience with Redis and BullMQ.
• Writing unit/integration tests using Jest.
• Working knowledge of Swagger, ESLint, Git.
• Familiarity with Nx and monorepo architecture.
• Experience with Grafana.
• Knowledge of PM2.
• Experience with Kibana.
• English – from Intermediate+ and above.
  
  Nice-to-haves:
• Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of Podman.
• Experience with Prometheus.
• Understanding of React, Next.js, Webpack.
