Machine Learning - Data Scientist - Geoscience

Aramco Research Center in Moscow supports development in the areas of upstream technologies in simulation and modeling, advanced materials, data analytics and artificial intelligence.

Aramco Research Center – Moscow is offering great job opportunities for R&D data scientists specialized in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning focused on geology and geoscience domains. The position does not separate the roles of research scientist and data scientist and requires to be very flexible and innovative to think and work outside the box. It will focus on translating frontier data analytics and machine learning techniques to R&D ideas and prototypes to be further deployed to industrial applications. This will also require from the candidate to be able to grasp end to end industrial data processing and analytics implementation for successful technology development to tackle business problems.

Key functions and responsibilities:

• Build and improve machine learning models using Python for various industrial applications in geology and geoscience domain;
• Develop high quality data science solutions using the latest research and industry trends in machine learning data analytics and apply them to solve industrial problems in innovative ways;
• Creating datasets for machine learning model training using multidimensional tabular and time series data;
• Clarifying tasks with the customers and understanding the domain area;
• Preparing and delivering the presentations with the results of computational experiments and interpretation of the machine learning results;
• Writing research reports, application documentation and user manual.

Key technical skills and competencies:

• Preferable MSc or PhD in computer science, physics, applied mathematics or related fields;
• Hands-on experience with prototyping machine learning models using Python and relevant data science and machine leaning packages;
• Hands-on experience with building machine learning models for classification, regression and clustering problems;
• Proficiency with Python coding, with good understanding of data structures and practical object-oriented programming experience;
• Experience with Linux, git, and GitLab CI/CD;
• Good communication skills in English (writing and speaking) are important. Please use a profile in English for applying for this role.
• A plus:
  • Knowledge of oil and gas geology and geoscience domains related rock and fluid sample characterization and analysis;
  • Experience in preparing scientific publications, patent applications and participating in scientific conferences.
