Building Utilities Lead Engineer (HVAC/FF/Plumbing)

The Building Utilities Lead Engineer overseas the technical coordination and site supervision of HVAC, FF (Fire Fighting) and Plumbing installations, ensuring that design, shopdrawings, installation and commissioning meet project requirements, quality standards and the construction schedule.

Along construction, the Building Utilities Lead Engineer will manage a team of 3 specialists (1 x HVAC, 1 x FF and 1x for other ancillary systems). This position also covers interfaces with structural, BMS, electrical and process systems. The Building Utilities Lead Engineer will work under the authority of the Construction Manager and the Project Manager.

The Building Utilities Lead Engineer will

• Review HVAC/FF/Plumbing designs, load calculations, equipment selections, specifications and shop drawings for compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.

• Lead HVAC/FF/Plumbing coordination with designers, contractors and other disciplines; resolve technical queries, clashes and installation issues.

• Review material submittals, method statements and inspection and test plans; monitor equipment procurement and delivery against the project schedule.

• Supervise HVAC/FF/Plumbing installation, inspect materials and workmanship, and track non-conformities and corrective actions with contractors.

• Coordinate HVAC/FF/Plumbing engineers and inspectors; monitor work progress, identify risks and report technical issues and recovery actions to project management.

• Oversee testing, adjusting and balancing, commissioning and performance verification; coordinate BMS integration and witness functional tests.

• Review technical changes and handover documentation, including as-built drawings, test records and O&M manuals; follow up outstanding defects.

• A master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or a related HVAC/FF/Plumbing discipline.

• Strong communication skills in Russian and Kazakh, with a practical command of English for technical coordination and documentation.

• At least 3 years of experience in a similar position leading all 3 disciplines on real estate or industrial projects.

• At least 3 years of experience in one specific field (HVAC, FF or Plumbing) on large real estate or industrial projects, including experience leading engineers and coordinating contractors.

• Strong knowledge of HVAC, FF and Plumbing design, installation and commissioning, applicable Kazakhstan requirements and relevant international standards.

• Ability to review heat load and airflow calculations, ductwork and piping layouts, equipment sizing and system performance.

• Strong leadership, planning and coordination skills, with the ability to resolve technical issues across disciplines.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and the ability to review coordinated drawings on BIM models

• Proficiency in Excel and technical reporting; experience with HVAC/FF controls, BMS interfaces and commissioning documentation.
