Mathematics Instructor (University Preparatory Programs)

About the Role

American University of Technology (AUT) powered by Arizona State University is looking for an experienced and motivated Mathematics Instructor to teach our Mathematics and Logical Reasoning Preparatory Course. The course is a 4-month, 36-lesson program for students in grades 9–11 and recent high school graduates who are preparing for university admission or the SAT. Students who complete the course earn a certificate that can be used in AUT admissions, and top performers may be considered for full-tuition scholarships at AUT.

The instructor plays a central role in each student's journey: building strong mathematical foundations, developing analytical thinking, and preparing students for the demands of university-level study.

Course Content

The outline below is indicative and may be updated to reflect student needs and program development.

The instructor will deliver a structured 16-week curriculum organized in four modules:

1. Arithmetic Concepts and Algebra Foundations – numbers, introduction to algebra, solving equations, systems of equations.
2. Inequalities, Word Problems & Plane Geometry – linear and nonlinear inequalities, plane geometry, word problems.
3. Functions and Trigonometry – sequences and series, linear functions, functions and graphs, exponential and logarithmic functions, introduction to trigonometry.
4. Combinatorics, Statistics, Space Geometry & Final Review – combinatorics and probability, data and basic statistics, space geometry, course review and final exam.

Key Responsibilities

· Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons at least twice a week (2 hours per session) following the established curriculum. Detailed schedule will be discussed with the successful candidate

· Balance academic rigor with a supportive classroom environment suitable for students with varying levels of preparation

· Run revision sessions to reinforce key concepts for students with weaker foundations

· Assign and review weekly homework and practice problems

· Design and administer quizzes, monthly midterm examinations, and a comprehensive university-style final examination

· Integrate case studies, mathematical modeling, and real-world applications into lessons

· Track student attendance, participation, and progress, and share updates with the AUT team

· Identify high-achieving students and provide input for scholarship recommendations

· Provide guidance to students preparing for SAT and other admission exams

· Contribute to improving course materials, assessments, and teaching methods

· Support AUT outreach activities as needed (e.g., open lessons, info sessions)

Qualifications

Required

• · Master's degree or higher in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field
• · At least 5 years of experience teaching mathematics at the secondary or university level
• · Strong command of algebra, functions, trigonometry, geometry, combinatorics, probability, and statistics
• · Ability to explain complex concepts clearly and patiently
• · Fluency in English; working knowledge of Uzbek and Russian

Preferred

· PhD in Mathematics or a related field

· Experience preparing students for SAT, GMAT, GRE, and/or DTM exams

· Track record of students gaining admission to top local or international universities

· Experience with student-centered and active learning methods

· Familiarity with digital teaching tools and learning platforms
