Job Purpose

At Coventry University Kazakhstan, the Nurse will play a vital role in promoting the health, safety, and wellbeing of students, employees, and visitors. The postholder will provide professional nursing services, first aid, health advice, emergency response, and health promotion activities while ensuring compliance with relevant healthcare regulations and University policies. The Nurse will contribute to creating a safe, healthy, and supportive learning and working environment aligned with the University's mission, values, and strategic objectives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and immediate medical assistance to students, employees, and visitors experiencing illness or injury on campus.
• Assess patients' conditions and determine appropriate treatment or referral to hospitals or specialist healthcare providers where necessary.
• Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies and coordinate emergency medical services when required.
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date medical records in accordance with applicable legislation and the University's policies.
• Monitor students or employees who require temporary medical observation before returning to work or study or being transferred to a healthcare facility.
• Administer medications and treatments within the scope of professional nursing practice and applicable regulations.
• Ensure that the University's first aid kits, medical equipment, and emergency supplies are regularly inspected, maintained, and replenished.
• Promote health awareness by organising health education campaigns and wellbeing initiatives covering topics such as healthy lifestyles, mental wellbeing, infection prevention, nutrition, and vaccination.
• Support the implementation of the University's Health and Safety policies and participate in emergency preparedness activities.
• Provide medical advice and guidance to students and employees on general health matters within the scope of nursing practice.
• Collaborate with Student Services, Human Resources, Security, Academic Departments, and external healthcare providers to support student and staff wellbeing.
• Prepare reports and maintain healthcare documentation as required by the University.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control procedures and maintain high standards of hygiene within the medical room.
• Participate in health and wellbeing projects and initiatives across the University.
• Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as assigned by the line manager. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Nursing.
• Valid nursing registration/licence to practise in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in clinical nursing, primary healthcare, emergency care, or occupational health.
• Current First Aid, CPR, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures.
• Experience in maintaining confidential medical records and healthcare documentation.
• Knowledge of Kazakhstan healthcare legislation and health and safety regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic medical record systems is desirable.
• Proficiency in English; fluency in Russian and/or Kazakh is essential.
