Kotlin Developer in Almaty

Andersen is hiring a Kotlin Developer in Almaty for a project enhancing banking self-service kiosks and delivering secure, customer-focused digital card solutions.

The customer is a large financial institution serving millions of retail and corporate clients. It combines a broad physical presence with strong investment in digital platforms, mobile solutions, data infrastructure, cybersecurity, and open integrations. Technology is central to improving customer experience and scaling modern banking services.

The project is focused on enhancing customer-facing card kiosk functionality for bcc.kz clients. It aims to improve debit card issuance and management processes and deliver a secure, convenient, and efficient self-service banking experience.

Responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining backend functionality in Java/Kotlin for high-load banking systems.
• Designing and implementing REST APIs and microservice-based solutions using Spring Boot.
• Developing integrations with internal and external systems, working with Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Camunda.
• Optimizing relational and NoSQL databases, including writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
• Writing unit tests, conducting code reviews, and ensuring code quality using Git and static code analysis tools.
• Collaborating with business analysts, solution architects, and QA engineers within an Agile/Scrum development team.

Requirements:

• Experience in mobile application development for 3+ years.
• Experience working in a bank or on banking-related projects for 2+ years.
• Strong knowledge of Kotlin (or Java with a willingness to transition to Kotlin) and object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.
• Hands-on experience with Clean Architecture, MVI (Redux/TEA), Coroutines (Flow), advanced Kotlin, design patterns, Jetpack Compose, and GitLab CI.
• Solid understanding of mobile application performance optimization principles.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams and a good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Understanding of operating system architecture and its interaction with the JVM.
• Good understanding of networking concepts, including the OSI model and its real-world implementations, stateless vs. stateful protocol design, and the differences between HTTP and TCP.
• Strong experience with the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, including development with Kotlin).
• Strong knowledge of SQL databases, including ACID properties, transaction isolation levels, and related concepts.
• Proficiency with version control systems, preferably Git.
• Experience working with Docker.
• Ability and willingness to write high-quality unit tests.
• Experience with static code analysis tools such as SonarQube and Detekt/Ktlint.
• Willingness to mentor teammates and conduct code reviews.
• Level of English – from Intermediate and above.

Nice to haves:

• Experience working with NoSQL databases.
• Experience with Camunda (BPMN 2.0, business process modeling and orchestration, development of delegates/workers, and integration of the workflow engine into a microservices architecture).
• Experience with Testcontainers.
• Hands-on experience designing and building a microservices architecture from scratch for a new project.
