Position Purpose
The Product Specialist is responsible for driving sustainable business growth and market development of the assigned product portfolio across 11 countries of the CIS region. The role combines product management, downstream marketing, commercial support, clinical education, and distributor development to maximize market penetration, strengthen customer relationships, and ensure successful execution of business strategies in close collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, and Global Business Units.
Profile & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in medicine, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in Product Management, Product Marketing, Clinical Support, Sales, or Market Development in the medical device industry.
- Experience with distributor-based business models and multi-country/regional responsibilities is a strong advantage.
- Strong understanding of interventional procedures and cathlab workflow, with ability to provide clinical and product support during procedures.
- Solid commercial and analytical skills, including product management, market development, forecasting, pricing, and competitive analysis.
- Proven ability to build relationships with KOLs, distributors, and key customers, and to deliver effective presentations and trainings.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent in English and Russian, Knowledge of additional languages is a plus; willingness to travel extensively across CIS and internationally (up to50%).
Job Responsibilities
1. Product Expertise & Clinical Education
- Become the regional expert for the assigned product portfolio and maintain comprehensive knowledge of clinical evidence, competitive products, market trends, and treatment guidelines.
- Develop and execute annual product education plans for distributors, sales teams, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Support physician education through workshops, hands-on trainings, proctorships, and clinical case discussions.
- Provide advanced product and clinical support during complex procedures where appropriate.
- Create and localize educational and promotional materials in cooperation with Global Marketing
2. Commercial Support & Business Development
- Support development and execution of the annual business plan for the assigned product portfolio.
- Identify new business opportunities and develop market expansion initiatives across CIS countries.
- Support distributor business reviews and joint business planning.
- Monitor sales performance and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
- Participate in pricing strategy discussions and commercial negotiations for strategic opportunities.
- Support account development plans together with the Sales Managers.
- Support launch readiness activities for new products.
- Develop value propositions for strategic accounts.
- The current JD barely reflects the commercial component of the role.
3. Product Management & Marketing
- Develop and implement annual marketing plans for assigned product lines.
- Define product positioning and key marketing messages.
- Analyze product performance and recommend lifecycle management actions.
- Conduct market segmentation and identify priority customer groups.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs and competitive landscape.
- Prepare regular business reviews and portfolio performance reports.
- Support preparation of annual sales forecasts and demand planning.
- Coordinate product launch activities across all CIS markets.
- Monitor product profitability and recommend portfolio optimization initiatives.
4. Distributor Management
- Build strong relationships with distributor management and product specialists.
- Conduct regular business reviews with distributors.
- Support distributors in developing local business plans.
- Ensure distributors possess appropriate product knowledge.
- Monitor distributor performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Share best practices across distributors and countries.
- Support onboarding of new distributor personnel.
5. Tender & Market Access
- Support preparation of technical documentation for tenders.
- Review tender specifications and identify commercial opportunities and risks.
- Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs regarding registration requirements impacting tender participation.
- Support reimbursement and market access initiatives where applicable.
- Monitor upcoming tenders and develop participation strategies.
6. Regulatory Affairs Support (missing)
- Support Regulatory Affairs by providing commercial justification for new registrations and product changes.
- Participate in launch planning related to new product registrations.
- Monitor regulatory developments impacting the product portfolio.
- Coordinate product lifecycle activities requiring cross-functional support.
7. KOL Development & Clinical Partnerships
- Develop long-term partnerships with Key Opinion Leaders.
- Identify and develop future KOLs and emerging clinical leaders.
- Support investigator-initiated studies where appropriate.
- Facilitate exchange of clinical experience across countries.
- Organize advisory boards and expert meetings.
8. Congresses & Marketing Activities
- Plan, organize and execute regional and local congresses, workshops, educational meetings and product launch events.
- Coordinate Terumo participation in scientific congresses.
- Evaluate return on investment of marketing activities.
- Support execution of regional marketing campaigns.
9. Forecasting & Supply Chain
- Prepare rolling sales forecasts.
- Support demand planning.
- Monitor inventory levels and backorders.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain regarding product availability.
- Support allocation planning during product shortages.
- Monitor product expiry risks together with distributors.
10. Market Intelligence
- Monitor market dynamics.
- Analyze competitors' products.
- Monitor pricing trends.
- Identify new market opportunities.
- Provide regular competitive intelligence reports.
- Collect customer feedback.
- Recommend actions based on market insights.
11. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Regulatory Affairs, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Medical Affairs, Marketing Communications, Finance and Global Business Units.
- Participate in cross-functional projects.
- Ensure effective communication between local markets and global teams.
12. Reporting & CRM
- Prepare monthly business reviews.
- Maintain CRM data.
