AIST - American International School of Tashkent is seeking an energetic, inclusive, and highly motivated Physical Education and Health Teacher to join our international faculty. The ideal candidate will promote a lifelong love for fitness, wellness, and healthy living among a diverse, multicultural student body. You will be responsible for designing and delivering a dynamic, movement-based curriculum that builds motor skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical literacy, while teaching essential health and wellness concepts in the classroom.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Curriculum, Planning & Movement Instruction
- Inclusive Skill Development: Plan and deliver age-appropriate, engaging lessons covering a wide variety of activities, including team sports, individual athletics, gymnastics, swimming (if applicable), dance, and fitness training.
- Health & Wellness Classroom Education: Instruct secondary or elementary students in health-related modules, including nutrition, anatomy, mental wellness, personal hygiene, and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Differentiated Inclusion: Adapt physical activities and games to ensure students of all fitness levels, athletic abilities, and cultural backgrounds are actively included, safe, and motivated to improve.
- Inquiry-Based PHE: Align instruction with modern international frameworks (like standard American SHAPE standards or IB MYP objectives) that focus on strategy, performance analysis, and reflection rather than just winning.
2. Facilities Management & Student Safety
- Rigorous Safety Supervision: Maintain an exceptionally safe environment across all athletic facilities, including the gymnasiums, fitness centers, outdoor sports fields, and changing rooms.
- Equipment & Inventory Upkeep: Systematically organize, inventory, and maintain athletic equipment, ensuring items are clean, functional, and stored securely.
- First Aid Coordination: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of first aid, emergency medical protocols, and heat/air-quality policies for safe outdoor play in Tashkent.
3. Athletic Program & Community Leadership
- After-School Coaching: Actively participate in the school's co-curricular athletic program by coaching competitive varsity or junior-varsity sports teams (e.g., football/soccer, basketball, volleyball, track & field).
- Tournament Coordination: Assist in organizing internal sports days, field days, intramural leagues, and international school sports exchanges or tournaments (such as CEESA or local athletic leagues).
- Positive Culture: Cultivate a community culture of sportsmanship, emotional resilience, fair play, and respect among student-athletes and parents.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Kinesiology, or Health Education. A valid teaching license or international coaching credential is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of successful PE teaching and coaching experience, preferably within an international or accredited American school environment.
- Skills:
- Near-native or native English language proficiency (written and spoken) to clearly explain game rules, tactical concepts, and health topics.
- Strong mastery over a wide array of sports rules, fitness testing methods, and training mechanics.
- Certification in First Aid, CPR, and automated external defibrillator (AED) operation is mandatory.
