Project Description:
We're a high-performing, agile SaaS web application team that builds web and mobile applications for commercial service contractors. Our infrastructure spans Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure, and AWS with ongoing experience across multi-cloud environments.
Responsibilities:
Uptime, performance, security, and stability of our applications, including:
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure management — Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, and related services
- Microsoft Azure infrastructure management — Virtual Machines, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and related services
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure management, EC2 server administration, monitoring and tuning, Serverless architecture (AWS Lambda)
- Relational database administration across MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Azure SQL
- NoSQL/document store management (Firestore, Cosmos DB, or equivalents)
- Serverless architecture (Google Cloud Functions, Azure Functions)
- Designed and secured cloud network architectures across Azure and GCP, including VNets/VPCs, firewall rules and Network Security Groups, VPN gateways for hybrid connectivity, and private endpoints for secure, private access to managed services.
- Implemented identity and access management across Azure and GCP, including Azure AD (Microsoft Entra ID) / Cloud IAM role assignments, RBAC policies, service accounts and managed identities for secure service authentication, and governance controls (Conditional Access / Organization Policies) to enforce least-privilege access
- Disaster Recovery planning, implementation, and testing
- Backup strategy and execution across environments
- Supporting Engineering teams' infrastructure needs for project initiatives
- Supporting CI/CD pipelines for production and lower environments
- Owning application configuration, environment management, and database schema change processes
- Troubleshooting issues with minimal supervision and continuously learning new technologies
- Participating in after-hours on-call rotation and support
- Maintaining environment configuration through Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Collaborating with Engineering, Product Management, Customer Support, and external cloud partners
- Mindful of GCP, Azure, and related operational infrastructure costs
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience with Windows system administration
- 2+ years of experience with Linux system administration
- 2+ years of experience with horizontal scaling of web applications
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) — Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud SQL, networking, IAM
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure — Virtual Machines, AKS, Azure SQL, Azure Active Directory, networking
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code: Terraform preferred
- Experience with logging and monitoring tools such as Google Cloud Operations Suite (Stackdriver), Azure Monitor, and ElasticSearch
- Experience and familiarity with AI coding assistants or AI-powered code editors
- Experience working in an Agile framework
- Experience with ElasticSearch (ELK), AWS Cloudwatch or related logging/monitoring tools
- Effective communication in English
Preferred:
- Experience with SQL Server / Azure SQL ; DBA experience is a plus
- Experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL administration; DBA experience is a plus
- Experience with GKE, AKS, or EKS (Kubernetes orchestration) for GCP, Azure, and AWS
- Experience designing and implementing Disaster Recovery Plans
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) — EC2, RDS, and Lambda
- Network configuration and security (VPCs, firewalls, VPNs, private endpoints)
