New Yorker is seeking a Payroll Accountant based in our office in Almaty.

We are now in the process of establishing our own company in Kazakhstan and are therefore looking for some qualified and experienced personnel.
Currently we are looking for the candidate for the position of Payroll Accountant to be responsible for payroll operations in organization, preparation of employee salary statements and process paychecks. Payroll accountant ensures all payroll procedures are in line with governmental laws and policies.
Job responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
- Setting up payroll accounting
- Compiling payroll accounts
- Updating payroll files and general ledger
- Compiling payroll tax returns, statements of social security contributions and all other returns
- Payment of salaries, taxes and social security contributions (setting up bank transfers or payments via an escrow account)
- Resolving payroll issues (e.g. late payments)
- Oversee employee paychecks
- Calculate net salaries considering deductions and withholdings
- Ensure payroll and tax documents are accurate
- Update general ledger and payroll files
- Prepare accounting files, records, and schedules
- Monitor paid and unpaid leaves
- Process overtime earnings or holiday deductions
- Resolve payroll problems (e.g. overlooked bank holidays, late payments, etc.)
- Answer employee questions concerning payroll
- Participate in payroll audits
- Ensure compliance with governmental laws on payroll accounting and taxes
- Compiling individual postings lists for transferring payroll data to financial accounting systems, electronically if required
- Preparing management reports
- Compiling notifications required under social security legislation (for example, registering and de-registering employees and annual remuneration returns)
- Posting of bank transactions
- Other payroll accounting and office duties that may arise from time to time
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of relevant payroll accounting experience
- BA/BS in Accounting required
- Proficient with MS Office and 1C
- Foreign language upper-intermediate level: German or/and English
- Working knowledge of Axapta/Microsoft Dynamics
- Experience with complex banking and accounting reconciliations
- Advanced Excel skills
- Previous retail industry experience and/or multinational company experience are a plus
