Specific‑Group is an international software development company providing high‑class custom software solutions for corporate clients across Europe and the USA.
Our offices are located in Austria, Germany, the USA, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Belarus, Vietnam, and other countries.
While we focus primarily on clients from the financial sector, we are also actively engaged in insurance, healthcare, automotive, public media, AI, and other domains.
Currently, we are planning to open a vacancy for a Mid-to-Senior IBMi Application Administrator.
You’d join an account where two SPG colleagues already work: a project manager and a senior AS/400 consultant. You’re not dropped into a client system alone.
The client
A German industrial and automotive supplier (~2,200 people) building driver’s cabs, composite modules, and tool & mould systems for off- and on-highway vehicles. Their manufacturing, logistics, and finance processes run on IBMi + MAPICS.
What the first months look like:
In the first 3 months you get across the system landscape and the MAPICS module setup, and take over routine administration, monitoring, and backups alongside the senior AS/400 consultant.
By month 6 you own IBMi administration and maintenance end-to-end — PTFs, backup and recovery, job scheduling — plus first-line MAPICS support.
By month 9 you handle incidents end-to-end and drive continuous-improvement changes.
Who you are:
You’ve spent years administering IBMi (AS/400) in production — likely in manufacturing or logistics, where the ERP is the operational backbone.
You’ve owned backups, job scheduling and incident response, and worked in or around an ERP like MAPICS, Infor XA or similar.
MAPICS / Infor XA / GEAC experience is a bonus, not a gate — a strong IBMi administrator from another ERP background can ramp.
What you’ll do:
You operate and administer the IBMi platform — work and subsystem management, libraries, objects, backup and recovery.
You manage DB2 for i, batch processing, and job scheduling.
You keep the MAPICS modules stable across Materials Management, Production Planning, Purchasing, Inventory, and Finance — where one change in Inventory ripples into Finance, so cross-module awareness matters.
You own the EDI / flat-file / API interfaces, and you run incidents and changes ITIL-style.
