Substation Design Engineer

Role Description

We are seeking a High voltage / Power grid Substation Design Engineer for a full-time, on-site position located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Substation Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing high-voltage electrical substations, creating detailed technical documentation, and preparing drawings and schematics. This role involves overseeing design work in accordance with applicable codes and standards, performing calculations, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to execute client projects. Responsibilities also include reviewing vendor and contractor documents, ensuring compliance with project requirements, and providing technical support throughout project phases.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in HV substation design, including high-voltage layouts, equipment arrangements, and detailed system designs
• Strong understanding of relay protection systems, substation automation systems, and SCADA integration
• Capability in creating engineering drawings, layouts, and schematics using AutoCAD and other design software
• Proficiency in performing electrical system calculations, such as load flow, fault analysis, and equipment sizing
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
• Knowledge of international standards and regulations related to substation design (e.g., IEC, IEEE)
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications are a plus
• Experience in the energy or power sector and the ability to adapt to fast-paced project requirements
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to work effectively with team members and clients
