Role Purpose
The Head of Trade compliance, Russia is responsible for designing, implementing, and leading an effective compliance framework for the Russian Envista business, with a strong focus on Trade Compliance (export/import controls, sanctions).
The role acts as a strategic business partner, ensuring regulatory compliance while enabling sustainable business operations in a complex regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities
Trade Compliance Leadership
- Ensure full compliance with applicable export control, import control, and sanctions regulations (US, EU, and other relevant jurisdictions).
- Oversee compliance of international trade operations, including customer onboarding, third-party screening, and transaction risk assessment.
- Provide expert guidance and final approvals on complex or high-risk trade compliance matters.
Process Design & Optimization
- Design, implement, and continuously enhance end‑to‑end compliance and trade compliance processes, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and audit readiness.
- Lead the deployment and effective use of automated compliance and screening tools.
- Establish KPIs, reporting, and dashboards to monitor compliance performance and risks.
Cross‑Functional Leadership
- Lead and coordinate cross‑functional working groups involving Legal, Supply Chain, Logistics, Sales, Finance, Customer Service, Procurement, and IT.
- Ensure compliance requirements are embedded into business processes and decision‑making.
- Foster a culture of compliance through collaboration rather than control.
Business Partnership
- Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders on compliance implications of commercial and operational decisions.
- Balance regulatory requirements with business objectives, offering pragmatic, risk‑based solutions.
- Proactively engage with stakeholders to anticipate compliance challenges and support business growth.
Global Integration
- Serve as the key liaison between the Russian organization and the Global Trade Compliance team.
- Ensure timely implementation of global policies, controls, and initiatives at the local level.
- Contribute local insights and risk assessments into global compliance discussions.
Risk Management, Audits & Reporting
- Lead compliance risk assessments, internal reviews, and audits.
- Oversee investigation and remediation of compliance incidents.
Ensure accurate and timely compliance reporting to regional and global stakeholders
Key Requirements
Education
- University degree in Law, Economics, International Trade, or a related field.
- Advanced compliance or trade compliance certifications are an advantage.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in compliance, legal, or trade compliance roles, with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
- Proven experience in managing trade compliance programs in a multinational environment.
- Strong background in export control, sanctions, and international trade regulations.
- Hands‑on experience in process design, implementation, and optimization.
- Strong experience in building effective relationships with senior business stakeholders.
- Strategic mindset combined with strong execution capabilities.
- Excellent organizational and process‑management skills.
- High level of integrity and risk awareness.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work with complex information.
- Fluency in English and Russian (written and spoken).
