Our client a shipping company operating with multiple data sources across fleet management, operations, finance, and crew administration.

To enable data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency, we are implementing a centralized Data Warehouse that consolidatesinformation from all systems into a single source of truth. While our technical team builds the infrastructure, we need a skilled Business & Data Analyst who bridges the gap between our data platform and business stakeholders. This role involves engaging directly with business stakeholders to understand their operational challenges, translating business requirements into technical solutions, developing analytical models and SQL queries, building interactive dashboards, and automating reporting processes. The ideal candidate combines strong technical capabilities with excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in understanding maritime operations — turning complex data into clear insights that drive business performance.

They have offices in Dubai, Mumbai, Moscow, Shanghai, Istanbul. Headquarters is in Dubai.

Role Description:

This is a full-time job as a Data Analyst. The Data Analyst will be responsible for tasks such as data analysis, statistics, data visualization, and data analytics to support real-time decision-making for their International Shipping Organization.

What You Will Do:

Business Requirements & Stakeholder Communication

• Conduct interviews and workshops with operations, finance, and logistics teams to surface data needs
• Formulate and document business requirements in a structured format that engineers can build from
• Validate outputs with business users and close the feedback loop

Process Automation & Python Analytics:

• Identify manual, repetitive business processes that can be replaced with automated data pipelines or scripts
• Build Python-based automations: scheduled reports, email dispatches, data reconciliations, alerting logic
• Perform deep-dive analyses in Python (pandas, numpy)
• Own the automated email reporting layer — build, schedule, monitor, and maintain
• Document every automation so the team can maintain it independently

Data Analysis & Insights:

• Answer ad-hoc business questions with well-structured SQL queries
• Proactively surface patterns, anomalies, and insights from the data
• Respond to ad-hoc data requests within 24 hours
• Track data quality KPIs weekly

Reporting & Dashboards:

• Build BI dashboards where self-service visualization adds clear business value
• Connect dashboards to the DWH; manage refresh schedules and access permissions
• Document data models and DAX measures for maintainability

Monitoring:

• Own monitoring for pipeline health, data freshness, and row-count reconciliation
• Set up alerts for data quality failures and SLA breaches

What We Are Looking For:

Must Have:

• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, or related field

If you are a prize winner of mathematics, ML or DS olympiads, it will be considered a strong advantage.

• Experienced in collecting and clarifying business requirements directly from stakeholders
• 2+ years in BI development, reporting, or data analytics
• Strong SQL — CTEs, window functions, aggregations across large tables
• Python basics — pandas, scheduling, SMTP email automation
• English B2+

Nice to Have:

• Experience in the shipping or maritime industry
• Familiarity with 1C accounting system data structures
• Git for version-controlling BI assets
• Experience with ETL monitoring tools
• LLM / chatbot integration experience
