Reports to Instrumentation Manager
Job Purpose
The Instrumentation Engineer will support the planning, installation, and commissioning of Instrumentation and control systems during the construction of a sugar factory. The role involves detailed engineering review, site supervision, testing, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety regulations, and project timelines.
Area and Nature of Responsibility
Assist in design review, installation supervision, testing, and commissioning of Instrumentation and Control systems.
Communication
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal project teams. Escalate issues to the Instrumentation Manager as required.
Innovation
Suggest practical improvements for installation methods, energy saving, and system reliability.
Competency & Level of Proficiency
Proficient in Instrumentation and Automation systems for industrial projects, with working knowledge of automation and controls. Utilization and AI.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Develop detailed instrumentation designs, including P&ID reviews, instrument selection, and control system architecture.
Prepare technical specifications, datasheets, and loop diagrams for instrumentation equipment such as sensors, transmitters, control valves, and analysers.
Design and configure DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems to meet the operational needs of the sugar plant.
Support the Instrumentation Project Manager in developing project plans, schedules, and resource allocation.
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure instrumentation equipment and ensure compliance with specifications.
Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) to verify system performance.
Oversee the installation of instrumentation and control systems, ensuring proper calibration and integration with plant processes.
Conduct loop checks, system testing, and troubleshooting to ensure operational reliability.
Assist in the commissioning of instrumentation systems and support the handover to the operations team.
Provide technical expertise to resolve instrumentation-related issues during project execution and commissioning.
Collaborate with process, electrical, and mechanical teams to ensure seamless system integration.
Maintain accurate documentation, including as-built drawings, calibration records, and maintenance logs.
Ensure all instrumentation systems comply with industry standards (e.g., ISA, IEC) and safety regulations.
Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and HAZOP studies to identify and mitigate risks.
Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for instrumentation maintenance and operation.
Develop preventive maintenance schedules for instrumentation systems to ensure long-term reliability.
Recommend spare parts inventory and standby equipment to minimize downtime.
Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and documentation for project milestones.
Maintain records of instrumentation system performance and recommend improvements.

Education (Degree)
Required
Engineering in Instrumentation and control / Electrical / Electronic Engineering
Professional Certifications – other than education degree
Professional Certification
Advanced field instruments and control system/PLC/DCS/Pneumatics and advanced calibration.
Years of Experience
3–5 years of experience in instrumentation and control systems, preferably in process industries such as sugar, oil & gas, or chemical plants.
Desirable
Internal relationships
Instrumentation Manager, project engineers, civil/mechanical teams, Electrical, HSE team.
External relationships
Contractors, consultants, equipment suppliers, and utility authorities.
Competencies
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and Instrument calibration tools.
