Lead Business/System Analyst

Andersen is hiring a Lead Business/System Analyst to help build a unified payment orchestration platform, consolidating multiple payment systems into a single, secure, and efficient solution.

The customer is a large international organization developing and operating a complex digital platform for processing and managing financial transactions at scale. The solution supports various payment mechanisms, data flows, and integrations, with an emphasis on stability, efficiency, and security. Development is organized within a mature Agile setup, featuring well-established Scrum practices and long-term, stable teams.

The project is the development of a unified payment orchestration layer that consolidates multiple payment systems into a single, airline-centric platform, improving the efficiency, transparency, and profitability of merchant payment operations.

Responsibilities:

• Acting as a customer-facing leader, facilitating alignment, planning and acceptance meetings with clients, subject matter experts, and Payment System Providers (PSPs).
• Supporting the management team in building and maintaining a consistent product development roadmap based on MVP critical path and functional dependencies.
• Leading a Business Analysis team of five (including hands-on contribution), managing workload distribution, user story assignment, effort estimation, and delivery accountability.
• Coordinating BA and SA activities and serving as the primary point of alignment between stakeholders, product, architecture, and delivery teams.
• Performing quality reviews of business and system analysis deliverables, acting as a quality gate for user stories, specifications, and diagrams.
• Defining and maintaining payment orchestration logic, including smart routing, fallback, and failover strategies across multiple PSPs.
• Leading analysis of end-to-end multi-PSP payment lifecycles, including authorization, capture, refund, void, and chargeback flows.
• Owning and evolving the canonical payment domain model, ensuring abstraction of PSP-specific APIs, statuses, and error codes.
• Collaborating with Project, Product, Architecture, Security and Compliance teams to design configuration-driven payment flows (merchant-level PSP setup, routing rules, feature toggles).
• Keeping in mind non-functional requirements for payment flows, including availability, latency, resiliency, retry strategies, and idempotency.
• Ensuring alignment of payment flows with regulatory, compliance, and security requirements.

Must-haves:

• Experience in Business and/or System Analysis for 4+ years.
• Hands-on experience leading BA/SA teams with responsibility for task ownership, quality control, and delivery accountability.
• Excellent stakeholder communication skills across business and technical teams in distributed US–EU environments.
• Strong experience in scope and change management, prevention of scope creep, and proactive management of client expectations.
• Ability to balance business needs, technical constraints, and regulatory requirements.
• Proven experience working on complex fintech or payment platforms, including implementation of multiple PSPs.
• Strong understanding of payment orchestration or multi-PSP architectures, including smart routing, provider failover, and retry strategies.
• Deep understanding of end-to-end payment flows, including PSP integrations from scratch and handling edge and corner cases.
• Solid system analysis experience in complex enterprise fintech or payments environments.
• Experience working with PCI DSS in close collaboration with Compliance and Security experts.
• Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures, including webhooks, asynchronous PSP callbacks, and payment state machines.
• Proven ability to create complex UML diagrams to support business and system analysis for individual user stories.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful API specifications, including defining request and response structures within user stories. Practical experience using Swagger and Postman.
• Level of English – Upper-Intermediate and above.

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience integrating or orchestrating fraud and risk services, including 3DS and external risk engines.
• Project or resource management experience, including planning, 1-to-1 meetings, and Personal Development Plan (PDP) creation.
• Experience participating in quarterly all-hands planning sessions with clients.
• Willingness and ability to attend project iteration planning workshops in the EU.
• High standards for documentation quality with a pragmatic, non–over-documenting approach.
• Experience supporting payments operations, including reconciliation, disputes, and incident root-cause analysis.
