DevOps Engineer (Azure)

The Project

The client delivers Criminal Background Check services through a technology platform for running enterprise business in the Background Checks and Compliance domain. Their process involves retrieving and processing information through a network of vendors who conduct jurisdictional searches both in the United States and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Support

  - Assist in maintaining existing Azure infrastructure using predefined templates and standards
  - Apply infrastructure changes under guidance from senior engineers
  - Perform basic troubleshooting of cloud resources

• CI/CD Support

  - Support existing CI/CD pipelines (monitor runs, fix simple issues, rerun failed jobs)
  - Assist in creating or modifying pipeline steps based on clear instructions
  - Help with application deployments (troubleshooting/improvements) to non-production environments

• Collaboration

  - Work closely with senior DevOps engineers and application teams
  - Follow established platform patterns, guidelines, and best practices
  - Ask questions and actively participate in knowledge-sharing sessions

• Automation Assistance

  - Assist in writing or maintaining small automation scripts
  - Help identify repetitive manual tasks and suggest automation ideas

• Monitoring & Operations

  - Monitor dashboards and alerts under supervision
  - Assist in incident response by collecting logs and basic diagnostics
  - Escalate issues according to defined procedures

• Documentation

  - Contribute to documentation by updating existing guides and runbooks
  - Document step-by-step procedures learned during tasks

Requirements

• 1+ year of experience in a DevOps, Cloud, or Infrastructure-related role (including internships or junior positions)
• English level A2–B1, sufficient for reading technical documentation and written communication
• Working knowledge of version control systems, primarily Git (branching, pull requests, resolving simple conflicts)
• Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or Azure ARM templates or Bicep (reading, modifying, and applying existing templates/modules)
• Working knowledge of CI/CD concepts and workflows, with hands-on experience using Azure DevOps
• Working knowledge of containerization using Docker, including working with Dockerfiles, building images, and running containers

• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Azure platform, including services such as:

  - App Services
  - Azure Service Bus
  - Storage Accounts
  - Azure Key Vault
  - Azure SQL or other managed databases

• Working knowledge of Azure networking concepts, including:

  - Virtual Networks and subnets
  - Network Security Groups (NSGs)
  - Private vs public endpoints
  - Basic DNS concepts

• Working knowledge of Azure security concepts, including:

  - Secrets management
  - Service principals and managed identities
  - Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

• Working knowledge of scripting using Bash or PowerShell for automation and operational tasks
• Basic Linux and/or Windows OS administration (services, logs, permissions, basic troubleshooting)

Optional Requirements

• Experience working with CI/CD platforms beyond Azure DevOps (e.g., GitHub Actions or GitLab CI)
• Introductory exposure to Kubernetes concepts (pods, services, deployments)
• Familiarity with .NET application build and release processes
• Experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
