Senior Data Engineer

This remote position is open for candidates based within Sigli’s hiring regions: Europe, Balkans, Central Asia, Caucasus.

About the project:

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team and work on complex, data-driven projects. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data platforms and pipelines that support analytics, reporting, and data science initiatives. This is a reserve position in our growing team, with the opportunity to contribute to innovative projects in applied AI.

What you will do:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines and data platforms
• Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured data
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and performance across systems
• Design data models and storage solutions for analytics and reporting
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data workflows and infrastructure
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical best practices
• Document data architecture, pipelines, and operational processes

What you bring:

• 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
• Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, or similar languages
• Experience with modern data technologies (e.g. Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks)
• Hands-on experience with data orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow, Prefect, Dagster)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure)
• Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data lakes
• Experience working with large-scale, distributed data systems
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of data solutions
• Good communication skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Upper-intermediate English level

Would be nice if you have:

• Knowledge of streaming technologies (Kafka, Spark Streaming, Flink)
• Experience with infrastructure as code and containerization (Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes)
