Head of Payments (Russia)

1. Build Russia’s Payment Architecture

• Design a multi-method / multi-scheme payment setup.

• Implement fallback scenarios for bank and P2P blockings.

• Minimize mass failures, retries, and overall user friction.

2. Manage Banks, PSPs, and Partners

• Work directly with local banks and payment partners.

• Rapidly rotate schemes and providers without long approval cycles.

• Control limits, delays, freezes, and sudden shutdowns.

3. Own Performance and Stability

• Deposit and Withdrawal Success Rates.

• Deposit Coverage across the market.

• Time-to-Credit and Time-to-Withdrawal.

• Resolve pending and failed transactions hands-on, not just via reports.

4. Balance Risk and Volume

• Work closely with Fraud and Risk teams.

• Maintain balance between transaction volume and blocking risk.

• Minimize financial losses and operational incidents.

5. Be Crisis-Ready

• Design and execute anti-crisis scenarios.

• Support Customer Support during mass payment issues.

• Direct communication with Product and Tech teams, no intermediaries.

• Deposit Success Rate (P2P / bank transfers / alternatives).

• Deposit Coverage — % of users with at least one working method.

• Uptime of key payment schemes.

• Time-to-Recovery after blockings.

• GGR uplift driven by payment solutions.

Must-Have:

• Proven hands-on payments experience in Russia.

• Practical experience with P2P and local banks.

• Background in high-risk industries: gambling, betting, crypto, fintech.

• Ability to operate under constant restrictions and uncertainty.

• Calm decision-making and fast execution in crisis situations.

Strong Plus:

• Existing contacts in banks and payment providers.

• Experience with alternative and grey payment schemes.

• Proven cases of restoring payment flows after mass blockings.

• You have only worked with international card payments.

• You have never dealt with P2P, freezes, or forced shutdowns.
