Ruby on Rails Developer

Our international company, headquartered in Ireland, is currently seeking an experienced Ruby on Rails developer to join our team.

Written is a digital publishing marketplace built for the next era of author-led publishing, where writers own their work, set their own terms, and connect directly with readers. Unlike legacy platforms that lock authors into rigid formats and poor royalties, Written combines a sleek marketplace experience with blockchain infrastructure to enable true digital ownership, resale royalties, and collectible editions of books.

Core requirements:

-Strong Ruby on Rails expertise: 3–5 years of hands-on backend development experience, a track record of building and shipping features on active, evolving products rather than just maintaining legacy systems
-Proven experience designing and scaling API-first architecture
-Skilled in relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), schema design, query optimization, indexing, and familiarity with data migrations for production systems
-Competent with containerized environments (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and working closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and QA

Nice to have:

-Experience working with digital marketplaces or e-commerce systems
-Some experience integrating with blockchain-based products and solutions; interest in blockchain-based products, knowledge about on-chain/off-chain data flows, wallets, and transaction logic
-Some experience or interest in elegant AI implementations — custom model image generation, AI-based search & discovery, etc.

What are you expected to do:

-Book sample backend implementation
-Book cover generation: integration with ComfyUI
-Backend support of our blockchain monetization models: donations, auctions, crowdfunding, flexible royalties
-AI-based search implementation based on production-ready Python prototype
-Built-in doc/pdf to epub conversion
-UGC moderation
-Book voiceover implementation (most likely, an integration with a voiceover provider)
-Complex infrastructure tasks, such as optimizing our current book originality check
