Role Purpose
The Academic Registrar provides strategic and operational leadership for the University’s academic administration, student registration, records management, assessment processes, and quality assurance.
The role holder ensures that all academic and registry operations fully comply with both Uzbekistan’s higher education legislation and the standards of the University’s British validation partner.
This position is central to maintaining academic integrity, operational efficiency, and a student-centered approach across all aspects of academic services. The Academic Registrar also serves as Deputy to the Director of Student, Education and Academic Services, supporting divisional leadership and institutional development.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic and Operational Leadership
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of education services in line with the University’s strategic goals and both Uzbek and British academic requirements.
- Provide strategic oversight for team members responsible for registry services, academic standards and quality, and student conduct.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive policies, procedures, and governance frameworks for academic and student administration.
- Ensure processes and systems are transparent, efficient, and support a positive student and academic staff experience.
Academic Administration
- Oversee the full student lifecycle — admission, registration, academic progression, assessment, and graduation.
- Ensure accurate and secure management of student data and records in compliance with national and partner university standards.
- Manage academic regulations, programme approval, and curriculum monitoring, ensuring alignment with validation agreements.
- Support academic departments and faculties in implementing consistent, quality-assured academic processes.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure institutional compliance with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Higher Education requirements, as well as British regulatory and quality frameworks.
- Monitor changes in national and international regulatory environments and update internal policies accordingly.
- Maintain and oversee academic quality assurance frameworks, ensuring consistent application across all programmes and partnerships.
- Supervise academic appeals, disciplinary procedures, and academic integrity processes in line with institutional and legal requirements.
Digital Transformation and Data Management
- Oversee the implementation and integration of digital systems supporting academic administration, student records, and quality assurance.
- Ensure effective use of data analytics and feedback to inform institutional planning and service improvement.
- Champion the use of innovative, technology-driven solutions to enhance efficiency and the student experience.
Stakeholder and External Engagement
- Collaborate with senior management, academic leaders, and professional services across the institution to deliver high-quality academic operations.
- Act as a key liaison between the University and external bodies, including Uzbek national authorities, international partner universities, and professional or accreditation agencies.
- Build and maintain professional networks within the higher education community locally and internationally.
Leadership and Staff Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing administrative team that exemplifies professionalism and service excellence.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
- Support staff training and capacity-building initiatives aligned with institutional goals.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Master’s degree in Education Administration, Management, Law, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education administration, with significant leadership responsibilities.
- Understanding of Uzbekistan’s higher education regulatory framework and strong knowledge of UK academic quality standards.
- Proven ability to develop and implement policies, manage teams, and lead organizational change.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in English (Upper-Intermediate or higher).
Desirable:
- Experience working within or with internationally validated or transnational higher education institutions.
- Familiarity with digital systems for registry management, academic quality, and student information.
Working Conditions
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 18:00.
- Annual leave: Minimum 18 working days, with potential for increase according to internal policy.
