The AIFC Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Accountant to lead our Accounting, Tax & Treasury Department. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of accounting, taxation, and treasury functions, ensuring compliance with international and local standards, and aligning departmental goals with the broader objectives of the AIFC Authority.
Key Responsibilities
Department Management
- Lead and coordinate departmental activities to align with AIFC’s strategic goals.
- Develop and implement departmental strategies, KPIs, and internal workflows.
- Oversee budgeting, planning, performance monitoring, and team development.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulations, and legislative requirements.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Supervise daily accounting operations, including payroll, tax, and inventory.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial, tax, and statistical reporting in line with IFRS and RoK legislation.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure audit readiness.
- Provide financial insights and reports to support decision-making.
Tax Accounting & Compliance
- Ensure accurate tax calculations, filings, and payments.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and ensure compliance.
- Identify and mitigate tax-related risks.
Policy & Risk Management
- Develop and enforce accounting and tax policies.
- Propose process improvements and new methodologies.
- Ensure robust internal controls and risk mitigation strategies.
People Management
- Lead, coach, and mentor a high-performing team.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and support professional development.
- Foster a strong corporate culture aligned with AIFC values.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
- Minimum 7 years of experience in accounting or related fields.
- At least 3 years of management experience preferred.
- Certified “Professional Accountant of the Republic of Kazakhstan”.
- ACCA Certificate or Diploma in International Financial Reporting (DipIFR ACCA) is preferred.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting systems (1C: Accounting preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS and RoK accounting and tax legislation.

- Fluency in Kazakh, Russian, and English.
