Data Engineer

About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned, proactive, and self-driven Data Engineer to become part of our team. The ideal candidate can independently lead projects, transforming business requirements into efficient, scalable, and dependable data solutions. You will play a key role in establishing the core of our data infrastructure, delivering impactful results rapidly while creating a system that is adaptable and built to last.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain our core data infrastructure, including data lakes, data warehouses, and ETL/ELT pipelines from scratch. Work is ongoing with an external team providing Data Engineering resources (outsourced, 2 people).

• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into effective data models and solutions.

• Define and create core business metrics and a single source of truth for the company.

• Establish data governance, quality, and security standards and procedures.

• Maintain adherence to organizational security policies and procedures.

• Ensure proper handling of confidential and internal data.

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.

• Technical Expertise: Exceptional proficiency in SQL and Python. Experience in building scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines from scratch.

• Deep understanding of data warehousing principles and extensive experience with data modeling, particularly the star schema.

• Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms is highly desirable.

• Soft Skills: A strong sense of ownership and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent analytical and communication skills are essential.

• Fluent spoken English.

Current stack: GCP, Datastore, BigQuery, Looker. Technologies like Airflow, Spark are not deployed yet, but will be used in the future.
