Requirements:
Practical experience in the following technologies and areas:
- Deep expertise in Tableau Platform: extensive, validated experience as a Tableau Architect or Senior Administrator with in-depth knowledge of Tableau Server, Tableau Cloud, and their internal architecture, including licensing, resource management, security, and scalability;
- Tableau APIs: practical experience using REST API and Metadata API for advanced monitoring, automation, user management, and governance;
- Enterprise integration: proven experience integrating Tableau Catalog with external data and metadata management tools (e.g., Informatica EDC or similar);
- Tableau Tools: expert proficiency in Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep, and Tableau Catalog;
- Performance tuning: ability to quickly identify bottlenecks and a strong track record of advanced optimization at the infrastructure level of Tableau Server and individual content;
- Data modeling for BI: solid understanding of data modeling concepts (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, Data Vault) and their application in designing efficient BI data sources;
- SQL: strong SQL skills, including window functions, joins, indexes, views, and query optimization for efficient data processing;
- Python/Scripting: hands-on experience with Python or other scripting languages to support platform automation and integration tasks;
- Stakeholder communications: ability to effectively convey technical conclusions and management requirements to Technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
What you will be doing:
- Design and manage the Tableau Ecosystem: architecture and support for Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud, focusing on resilience, scalability, and optimal resource management;
- Infrastructure management and automation: lead end-to-end backend work (about 80% of the role) related to the Tableau platform, using REST API and Metadata API for automation, governance, resources, and deep insights;
- Enterprise integration: implement and manage critical integration between Tableau Catalog and external tools, especially Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC), to form a consistent and certified semantic data layer;
- Performance and efficiency: proactively identify and remediate systemic inefficiencies. deep tuning of server processes, data extracts, connectors, and individual workbooks to significantly improve speed and user experience;
- Semantic layer and governance: design, build, and validate a foundational semantic layer, including developing standard templates, best practices for dashboards, and ensuring data integrity across the platform;
- Self-service and Enablement: promote data democratization through sustainable governance, run training programs for Creator and Explorer users, and define content creation standards;
- Exploration and integration of advanced features, such as TabPy for statistical computations, and contributions to GenBI (generative AI) initiatives and the rollout of Tableau Pulse and the conversational assistant;
- Data preparation and modeling: design robust data preparation pipelines using Tableau Prep and apply advanced data modeling techniques for BI solutions;
- Technical leadership: act as an internal SME for everything Tableau-related, collaborate with leadership to define the technical roadmap, and ensure platform compliance with enterprise requirements;
- Frontend development: contribute to the development of core, high-priority dashboards and reports (about 20% of the role) in line with established UX and design.
It would be good to know:
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of cloud analytics platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), especially in relation to Tableau Cloud or on-prem deployments.
- Experience with TabPy or other integrations of external services.
- Previous experience as a technical lead, including mentoring junior developers and promoting BI standards.
- Familiarity with development, support, and optimization of ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Knowledge of basic statistical concepts and experience in defining key metrics.
- Experience with version control using Git.
- Familiarity with architectural requirements for connecting Tableau to GenAI (Generative AI) capabilities.
