Python Developer

Andersen is hiring a Python Developer for a health tech project. The role focuses on a platform that improves diagnostics, cognitive testing, and collaboration to enhance mental healthcare.

The customer is a New York–based health tech company that develops an AI-driven platform to support accurate diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions. Recognized with awards like the Global New Venture Challenge, it integrates into primary care workflows to reduce misdiagnosis, speed up screening, and improve patient outcomes. The company positions its solution as a scalable tool to enhance both provider efficiency and patient care.

The project is the development of a precision psychiatry platform to improve mental healthcare through advanced diagnostics, gamified cognitive tests, and secure clinician-patient collaboration.

Technology stack: Python 3.x, Django (ORM, Admin, DRF), REST API, PostgreSQL, AWS (RDS, S3, ECS/Fargate, EC2, CloudWatch, IAM), Docker, GitHub Actions, Celery, Redis.

Responsibilities:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining REST APIs using Django and Django REST Framework.
• Implementing and extending Django Admin for back-office functionality and internal tools.
• Working with PostgreSQL: design database schemas, optimize queries, manage migrations.
• Deploying and operating applications on AWS (ECS/Fargate or EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch).
• Writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.
• Ensuring security and compliance of applications (authentication, authorization, data protection).
• Participating in code reviews, testing, and debugging.
• Collaborating with product managers, designers, and other developers to deliver features on time.
• Monitoring performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimizing application scalability.
• Contributing to CI/CD pipeline improvements and deployment automation.

Must-haves:

• Experience with Python 3.x for 2+ years.
• Commercial experience with Django, including Django ORM, Django Admin, and Django REST Framework.
• Ability to design and implement REST APIs with authentication, authorization, pagination, filtering, and versioning.
• Experience customizing and extending Django Admin to build administrative interfaces and back-office functionality.
• Solid knowledge of relational databases, primarily PostgreSQL (schema design, indexes, query optimization, migrations).
• Hands-on experience with AWS services: RDS (PostgreSQL), S3 (file storage), ECS/Fargate or EC2 (deployment), CloudWatch (monitoring and logging), IAM (security and access management).
• Practical knowledge of Docker for containerization and environment setup.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
• Understanding of application security principles (HTTPS, API protection, access control).
• Level of English – from Intermediate+ and above.

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience with Celery/Redis for background task processing.
• Skills in performance optimization of Django applications.
• Awareness of compliance requirements such as HIPAA/GDPR (for healthcare or sensitive data projects).
