School Doctor

Kazakhstan International School (KIS) Astana is seeking a qualified and experienced School Doctor to provide comprehensive health services for our diverse student and staff community. The School Doctor will oversee the school’s health and wellness programs, provide emergency care, support public health compliance, and contribute to a safe, supportive learning environment. Fluency in both Kazakh/Russian and English is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Student and Staff Health Care

• Provide first aid and emergency care during school hours.

• Assess and manage minor illnesses and injuries.

• Refer cases requiring further medical attention to appropriate health facilities.

• Maintain a confidential record of student visits and treatments provided.

2. Health Promotion and Prevention

• Monitor and implement local public health guidelines.

• Organize routine health checks, including vision, hearing, height, and weight assessments.

• Monitor immunization records and coordinate with families regarding required vaccinations.

• Advise students, parents, and staff on hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.

3. Emergency Preparedness

• Maintain and regularly inspect medical supplies and equipment in the school clinic.

• Participate in the development of emergency response protocols (e.g., injury, allergy, pandemic).

• Train staff in basic first aid and response to medical emergencies.

4. Compliance and Reporting

• Ensure school compliance with all national health and safety regulations.

• Collaborate with local public health authorities when required (e.g., outbreak reporting).

• Submit required reports to local medical authorities and the school leadership.

5. Collaborative Work

• Work closely with school counselors, leadership, and teachers to support student well-being.

• Participate in parent meetings as needed to discuss student health-related concerns.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Medical degree (higher medical education) from an accredited institution.

• Valid license to practice medicine in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience, ideally in pediatrics or school health.

• Previous experience as a School Doctor is highly preferred.

• Strong knowledge of Kazakhstani health regulations for educational institutions.

• Current certification in First Aid and CPR.

• Fluency in English and Kazakh and/or Russian (written and spoken).

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in an international school or multicultural environment.

• Knowledge of health education strategies and adolescent development.

• Understanding of international child protection standards.
